Re: Hardware Plastic Comparision Thread

For the price of a Historic, you'd think they'd get the colour of the plastic right...

Re: Hardware Plastic Comparision Thread

All this plastic madness, are we decided which parts are the best to fit on a Historic.....?

Re: Hardware Plastic Comparision Thread

Here's something for the poor men like me!
When I first got my Gibson USA knobs, I didn't realise the numbers are just printed on. The Allparts knobs are quite exactly the same, cheap, and with erased numbers.
Gibson USA left, Allparts right

The Historic knobs are more like the Allparts knobs, embossed.

Re: Hardware Plastic Comparision Thread

Hello, here is my contribution as i managed to collect some plastic parts over the past year.

I found that the fatboy stuff is great and not having the big bucks to but OTPG i think fatboy is the best.

Re: Hardware Plastic Comparision Thread

I just Ordered a DMC M69 set, a Monsterrelic guard and the DMC Pokerchip.
I also have the aged Reflectors from Montreux on order as well as an RS kit for my R9.

IŽll post some pics when the parts are installed.

Re: Hardware Plastic Comparision Thread

Only got these a couple of days ago for my beloved R8.

Obligatory "Glamour shot"

As mentioned in another of my threads, I had to fiddle with the bridge pup so that it was parallel to the strings. The little b****** wanted to sit horizontally. This meant the front tip of the pup was stuck up. Any one else have this problem?

Yeah,

right. I remember the time I said all this plastic hardware changing was pretty expensive nonsense.
Problem is that once youŽve seen a pair of good looking rings in the correct color you canŽt help but notice the pinkish hue the stock historic parts have.......

I already installed the rings and the pokerchip but IŽm sending the guard back and will get one of the fatboy guards.
The Monsterrelic guard didnŽt fit properly. So I ordered the aged fatboy guard and the fatboy switchtip......

MY RS Kit is due any day now and the Shed Zeppelins are in the makes....

CanŽt wait fo it to be finished.

Re: Hardware Plastic Comparision Thread

That is a helpful picture. Thanks for sharing!

originally my pickups were quite recessed down in the rings and my polepieces were pretty far out. Problem was that my pickups would wiggle back and forth in the rings.
I brought them up a good bit and lowered the poles down. Now the rings stabilize the pups and nothing moves.

The WTO rings from DMC look pretty cool in my opinion - now all I need is the fatboy guard.

Re: Hardware Plastic Comparision Thread

Some Uncle Lou premium tips I aged and relic'd myself (using wire wool and creosote) on a set of original Kluson tuners whose original tips had shrunk and crumbled. Sitting pretty on my Ultra Aged R9.

Aged OTP rings and double whites. All other parts are vintage...

Re: Hardware Plastic Comparision Thread

Allright...

time for me to post in this thread again.
This is how your R9 can look after you add the following parts:

DMC rings
DMC vers. II aged pickupcovers
DMC trussrod cover
DMC knurled nut
Montreux aged reflector knobs
Fatboy pokerchip
Fatboy switchtip
Fatboy Pickguard
RS Kit with Luxe Bumblebees
Aged single line Klusons with Uncle Lou Premium tips.
Gibson metal jackplate
