Re: Plywood blues?
Oh, BTW......
There is a place right here in Portland where you can go see for yourself: MADEIRA, Premium Brazilian Rosewood & other exotic tonewood for guitars. I have gone and tap tested some of their stuff.....there are two boards there that would change your mind....if it were open, that is! ![]() No Unicorns or magic, just me with a Xylophone mallet and some wood! |

Paul Reed Smith can babble all he wants about BRW and how it affects electric guitars but there's another guy you may have heard of who makes acoustic guitars and he put his money where his mouth is. He went out and pulled a shipping pallet out of a stack from behind the shop and made a dynamite acoustic guitar out of it. Cupboards Kitchen and Bath: The Taylor Pallet Guitar - A REAL Use for Recycled Pallets! Skip to 1:40 to hear it, if your mind is open enough that is:

Re: Plywood blues?
Impressive indeed!!!!!!!
![]() ![]() Tho, I am a little lost on it's pertainance? Can cheap wood sound good.......admittedly, yes. It's my contention that the absolute best wood of any sort, when tap tested against some of the absolute best Braz (or Kingwood, too) will pale by audible comparisson. Just sayin' that a guitars tone is a "Sum of the whole" scenario. (wether acoustic or electric) |

Re: Plywood blues?
I'm not willing to pay a premium and carry around paperwork to certify my Braz board is ön the level to avoid seizure by some police wannabe customs official.

![]() Whoa ! Was just a (poor) attempt to bring a little levity into this whole "plywood" debate. A little play on words : bazillion, meaning a ridiculous amount, and Brazilian.....ah, nevermind ! Please, accept my apology LauriPaul. It wasn't meant to be an insult to you or your country in any way. I am an ass and will shut up now ! |
