How heavy? If you do not use the middle pup, you can lower it a lot & it should get out of the way for the most part. And it gets out of tune b/c you are using the Bigsby? I guess that is a no-no! LOL Of course, if you wind the strings the way the instructions say to wind them (first loop over the end coming out of the hole, and remaining loops go under), it should help with staying in tune.

Do you have a pic of the inside of the control cavity?

Are you the guy on youtube playing "come on everybody" on his Page BB?

Re: Let's see those 2008 Gibson Jimmy Page Les Paul Custom Black Beauties!

Nah, I was just kidding. I wouldn't recommend it to a 15 year-old girl but the weight shouldn't bother someone used to say, an old Deluxe for example.
I do lower the middle pickup when I just wanna rock out. The middle-pup blends are usually more appropriate for quieter tunes where picking can be more controlled.
After I had set it up it stayed quite well in tune, as you can hear on that YouTube video I did the day I got it indeed. I'm sure a little extra fine-tuning would make it resist the most extreme Bigsby abuse.
For someone who has all the Page LPs, the Custom will certainly be an exciting addition to your collection.

really thinking about putting one of those 6 way switches in my 57 ri. Anyone know if they fit in the standard switch cavity? I have a feeling the cavity would need to be made bigger.

Re: Let's see those 2008 Gibson Jimmy Page Les Paul Custom Black Beauties!

I got a shot of a Page BB control cavity; it confirms that it has modern wiring; a minor change would greatly improve the tone. But the pic also reveals some cheesy little disk caps!!!!! I was expecting to see black beauties! My guess is that a set of BBs would also improve the tone.

Re: Let's see those 2008 Gibson Jimmy Page Les Paul Custom Black Beauties!

And among all that spaghetti mess of wires, I see two things that could be easily changed that would make a great improvement in the tone! Then take the bridge & neck pickup covers off & it would also improve the tone.

I did see it. Made him an offer. But he says he wants to let the auction run. I get the feeling the auction will be shilled up to whatever price he wants in hopes that someone will bid a little higher. I would rather try to swing a deal with the minty / unplayed one in the UK.

Whoever it is that he has shill bidding for him apparently does not understand that someone else has to bid against him in order for the current bid to go up; the current bidder has upped his bid 4 times, but it did not increase the current bid. I understand that once you bid on something you might want to go back & increase your bid. But why would you go back and increase your bid 4 times within just a few hours?

Jimmy Page Les Paul Guitar #102 | eBay

Thus, those bids must be fake; belonging to the seller (under a different ID) or a friend of the seller.

Now I am thinking that the seller is a member of this forum, or at the very least he has been reading this thread. But those have to be the most obvious shill bids I have ever seen.

after i posted the "bad shill bidding" and the current price not increasing when only one bidder continues to up the max bid, his other bidder suddenly kicked in a higher bid, thus making the current bid go up.

and now after mentioning the "two bidders" above, he has gotten a third friend to bid again and bump the price up over $5000. i believe he is definitely reading this thread. for anyone willing to buy one of these, why would they bid this early in the auction? it only hurts their chances of getting a good price. the last two Bigsby models that I know of that sold on ebay went for about $5500. so now that we know he is reading this thread, he will probably get his friends to stop bidding until it gets closer to the auction's end. i think i will wait for another one or else make a deal on one of the other known ones for sale (Canada & UK & etc.)
