I'm confused also.
Although that guitar in the first video sounded great.
I wonder what pickups those are?

There is no description for the video, and I haven't found any info about the pickups elsewhere.

There is no confusion. guitarnut_germany and stonedmoses posted some different informations about the pickups, that is all.

I am not in position to say which of those informations are more correct than the other. We'll see if it gets cleared up

Re: Gregor Hilden plays Historic Makeovers Package-A 1959 Reissue

How can anyone tell what pups Greg is using by listening? Since he plays everything through his oingo boingo stomp box, everything he plays sounds the same.

The man has talent, not taking away from that, and he has some great gear, but please Greg, dump the pedal and lets hear what the gear sounds like in it's pure state.

Just my humble opinion.

...... Thanks planks ........

I like Gregor's tone , quite nice ....... Smokey even .........

But I also agree with Mike , these sounds have similar shading
in overall character , would be nice to hear these guits
Straight - on - through the amps .........

.

All good, and thanks for the clear up about that.

What we have of specs for the guitar (unless they changed the pickups of it in between shooting the 2 videos) is this from guitarnut_germany's post #26;

2003 Gibson Les Paul 59 Reissue Custom Shop Historic Collection, original Braz. Board! Plus: 2010 Dave Johnson Historic Makeover Grade A !! Plus Bareknuckle "Peter Green[nbsp]PAF Set", plus NOS Bumble Bees, Non Wire ABR-1 bridge, Vintage Clone Plastic Parts, Cellulose Inlays by Clive Brown.

+ 1 Mike.

I am a big fan of Gregor & have watched most of his videos. Awesome player but yes, everything sounds the same!

So while it is all great listening you can't really get an idea what the guitar sounds like or the pickups sound like as is when his signal is so processed.

My 2c FWIW.

The Boss pedal is a Loop Station

and the Okko Diablo (orange pedal) is not mentioned in the description of the video as being on.

imo the characteristics of the guitar's tone, sustain etc. is reasonable clear from the clip, regardless if one likes it or not.

The guitar sounds pretty good to me.
