Thinking about a 2011 R9

I have found a new 2011 R9 that I am kinda smitten with! It's got a great top, very dark fingerboard, nice weight, color = lemon which I've always wanted.

I'd have to down a few nice pieces to snag it.

The back of the body does look a little strange. Not quite the grain I am used to on a historic Les Paul. Not as "open" or "directional" as I am used to. More tight and C patterns if you will...

What do I need to know about 2011 R9's??? Different wood at all?? Better? Worse? Any issues, specs noteworthy??

Thanks in advance!!

You know what they say...same wood, different year.

Last year for now of the "1 piece fretboard" for what its worth.

The grain pattern depends on if it's flat sawn, quarter sawn or somewhere in between, not the year model...any pics?...

Well it probably doesn't have a Madi rosewood fingerboard. Get some pics so we can all ooh and aah.

Re: Thinking about a 2011 R9

Probably gonna take an ES-335 up today and see what he will give me for it towards a trade/layaway...

1997 in Blonde with super flame. I am hoping to go over $1500...

I told him I waas going to try to move some pieces and he mentioned he was very fair trade-wise. We will see... (He is a very nice guy)

How much do you want for the 30th Anniversary Skynyrd Goldtop Epiphone?

Re: Thinking about a 2011 R9

Well today I went into the store to check it out again and dropped a deposit on it

The guitar is amazing, lemon drop, highly flamed, 8lbs 12oz, perfect neck carve, dark board and a Yamano designation.

Only $3500 more to pay ... Eek!!
