Seriously digging my new R8
Got it about 3 weeks ago and I am really getting into it
I thought I would I am really starting to like Les Pauls. What a great combination of woods and tone. I might do the Mapleflame mod on it as I have all the stuff to do it. I actually bought two threaded rods from Macarr ( or whatever its called) One brass and one steel. I will probably use the Brass since I like the way it sound now. But I am just super digging the tone as is. My hands are getting used to it and making the guitar sound nicer as the guitar is sounding better as is as well the more I play it. I am 6' 2" and have big hands but the only thing I would do is shave the neck down a taaaaaad. I can navigate on the neck real well but like I said I overplay and would like to bejust be able to rip on it. I just love the thickness to the tone, sweetness and punch. also has a biiiit of sizzle. really good sound I would like to get a lighter one maybe in the future about 8 pounds for added comfort, but it would have to have the bottom end my 9 pounder has. Just really digging it. what a sweet axe just thought I would vent that!

Re: Seriously digging my new R8
Congrats on the guitar.
I think you'll get even more used to the neck and will be able to fly. I am having trouble playing my thin necked guitars (60 LP copy, Ibanez Rocket Roll) after using my CR8 (with baseball bat neck) as my main guitar for a while.

Re: Seriously digging my new R8
last night I was actually hanging out watching TV and yes the neck is getting easier to fly on
I was playing so intricate stuff on my LP pretty well. I think you are right thing that is pretty eye opening with large necks is that even though it is tough in the beginning to play on the hand fatigue is different. it is not cramping as when a neck is small and results into a healthier tired feeling later on dont know if that makes sense. |
