Favorite Color Les Paul ?

Please vote for your favorite Historic Les Paul color !!

I know I added a multiple answer choice to this poll.. but what is the sense of a poll if you all vote for every answer ????? !!!! Please chose 1 answer !! Maybe 2 ... Not all of them !!!!

Re: Favorite Color Les Paul ?

it depends.. if it were to be my first historic LP, no finish says "Historic" like the Heritage Cherry Sunburst.. .. that's just me

but if i were a rich butt-crack, , and already had my first Historic, i'd probably choose an Iced Tea or a Tobacco Burst

You're doin' great Bob!
Darkburst fades to brown at the edges, Brockburst fades to a dark red at the edges.
I'm waiting to get my hands on a Brockburst LP, I love them!
So, if anyone has a Certified Brazilian Brockburst with a dark back and a great top for sale, let LPCollector hook you up!$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It's so hard to just pick one. But I favor Iced Tea a bit more than the others.

Brockburst!!! And no, it's not the same as darkburst.

You also forgot Stanleyburst (now called Sunrise Teaburst), another favorite of mine:

Of the ones mentioned above in the poll, I guess I'd have to choose Iced Tea, followed by darkburst.

Re: Favorite Color Les Paul ?

Everyone is really diggin the Iced Tea .. but what will thos LP's look like in 20 years ? Gibson couldn't have done it right so they fade to honey ! It will probably turn to a mudburst !

so the StanleyBurst and the Brockburst are just variations of the HCS?

they all look HCS to me (in terms of finish), but i do notice the slight variations in the burst / grain of the wood of the top..

am i right?

The brockburst finish is a very deep, dark red on the perimeter...much darker than a cherry, but not nearly as dark as a darkburst, which is more of a brownish color on the extreme perimeter.

In the past, stanleybursts were very orange on the perimeter (in person)...much lighter than a cherry. The Sunrise Teaburst color, which supposedly replaced the stanleyburst color, looks more brownish and less orangish than the stanleybursts I've seen.

As far as the flame/grain of the wood is concerned, it's going to vary from one guitar to the next. I love the guitars from the mid to late '90's because so many of them had very pronounced flame/grain/figuring. Many during this time period also had their flame enhanced via a double staining method. These wild tops, along with the enhancing, while not historically accurate, made for some of the nicest looking guitars that Gibson has produced, IMHO. Here are just a couple examples of wild and enhanced tops:

And here's an example of some flame and grain with much more of a vintage look to it:
