NGD for me: a 2006 R9
Hey, I'm new to the forum but have owned about 40 guitars over the years and am active on the Hamer board and TGP.
I had been trying to avoid it because it is so darned expensive, but I finally bit the bullet and purchased an R9 from 2006. It is the best playing, best sounding guitar I've ever owned, and I've owned some nice ones. I installed WCR godwoods, although I'm curious to try Scatterbranes if anyone has an opinion about that. Here is a sound sample from my gig last Saturday, in the event anyone is curious: Thanks Gibson! |

Re: NGD for me: a 2006 R9
I just bought an R8 with WCR pickups (Crossroads and Dark Burst). Put my Benwabranes in to see if I liked them better.....branes are still in the R8.
They have that Zepp "quack" that I cannot do without.... |

Re: NGD for me: a 2006 R9
I bought it on an off-eBay transaction. Paid $3,700 including expedited shipping, which I thought was a good deal for a VOS with a Lifton. Some undisclosed buckle rash on the back, annoying and I only recently noticed it so perhaps it's my fault (doubtful), but otherwise as promised: 2006 R9 VOS Gibson Standard Custom 1959 Les Paul Reissue | eBay

Re: NGD for me: a 2006 R9
Looks great, really nice top. Sound clip was excellent, a great rendition of the Cream version of Crossroads, you've even got Eric's solos nailed! Would have loved some video to go with it (I know, if it's not photos it's videos we're screaming for!). Anyway, sounds like a great acquisition - by the way what amp (and pedals) have you got it teamed up with? I think you and this guitar have a great future together. Nice!

Re: NGD for me: a 2006 R9
Hey guys thanks for the kind words. I'll try to pst better pics soon. About the other gear in the recording ... Am playing through an amp and a front-end distortion pedal that a local builder custom built for me. I take some credit in helping design the thing and beta-testing the sound.
