Wow, does that mean we're gonna get 15K "replicas" next year?

Focusing on non-bursts or SG's?

Nope. I expect a 15K replica. They see historic makeovers.
They see the threshold for a 15K guitar is not that high.
Hell, when you pay 5k and then another 2-3k to have it made over.......

Ultra limited, super replicas. I believe this is the next step for 2013-14.
The classic/trad line will exist, but if you want the 1959 experience from Gibson, I think it will be 15K.

5-7% Increase ???? NO R9's ??? Moratorium????

So the increase rumor is TRUE. What about the rumor of a moratorium on R9's or a severe cutback on R9's. Could that be the reason why they are not on the list????? Because they are not making any??? I notice the Music Zoo brought in a ton of R9's and have listed them on their site. Do they know something we don't know ????

Maybe they're gonna put em through a wood chipper to make fretboards for Melody makers and raise the price on em?

Could it be that it is not as big as we think? Maybe only old models are moving.

Re: No R9's on the Gibson 2012 Price List

I suppose they are sitting on plenty of R9s already, as are the music stores.

This "scare" could drive up demand, allow the factory and music stores to clear house, and then issue a new version at a higher price point to fill that vacuum.

yes maybe the R9 is an other victim of the economic situation, I have noticed over the last few months Gibson have been introducing new more affordable models.

Gibson will only build Artist models and Collectors Series for 2012.

Was any R8's or R0's on the list?

If true, it will clean out the NOS guitars in dealers inventory and will shoot the price up on used.

Re: No R9's on the Gibson 2012 Price List

I heard over the Weekend that Gibson is doing something In Central- South America . I think it might be part of what's happening . I was told the Fla. Gibson Rep. is going or went down there. and that is where he will be working out of. Nashville & Memph are not Union .

Re: No R9's on the Gibson 2012 Price List

The rest of the story that I have heard is that while there will be no
regular issue Historic R9’s, there will be R9 Artist Series, Signature Series,
Commemorative Models, Collector Issues, and Special Runs.
I suspect that much like the “Limited” 2009 Anniversary R9’s there
will be more R9’s made in 2012 than in any single year previous, and
of course they will be the closest guitars ever made to the original
1959 Burst. Well, there is more than a little sarcasm there, but I wouldn’t
add a zero to the end of your ebay sales just yet.

Geezuz... markguitar wrote one thing and one thing only. It's a real simple sentence.

Yeah I've heard that about sig and collectors choice guitars in 2012 also. So has markguitar - months ago. But that wasn't said was it. Only that one simple sentence was said 'cos that's all that's a fact right now.

And yeah there's plenty of cynicism and sarcasm quoted above which is ok I guess (except for stingers of course...)

**** this place sometimes...

People speak their minds and opinions here in the USA. Most of it is fact.
That is the purpose of this forum. Lots of folks get all out of shape
when we don't always agree here. If you don't agree or can't stand
an open discussion, then you have a problem.

Seems the cynicism and sarcasm is coming from the foreigners nowdays.

Maybe you should hang in the ACE re-issue section and talk about your
dream Norlin guitar.
