Real or fake?
I hope this in the right section. I don't know why I did it but, I called Gibson to check on the SN of the 1996 59RI Les Paul I bought. I have called twice and got the same info. There was a 59RI in 1996 with my SN. What I have trouble with is it comes up with it being a heritage cherryburst. I don't think it is. The color the seller said on Ebay was a AAA tobacco tiger maple top. I have taken the back covers off and they seem pretty neat, with braded wires. I'm including some pics and hoping you can ease my mind. Also took the pickups off and they also had braded wiring and, the stop tail under neath had Gibson on it.

Re: Real or fake?
I looks like Heritage Cherry to me. It is NOT a fake! And the flametop is not a finish. It is definitely not a darkburst. The electronics have been altered a bit.
Tobacco burst was not even an option in 1996 for Historics (I am not sure Gibson ever used the term "tobacco burst") |

Re: Real or fake?
Its a good one, Look under the neck pup, post a pic.
I think that's some sort of treble bleed~maybe~ in the cavity.

Definately real and definately AWESOME!
![]() Reminds me of an R9 I saw a few years back that had a "Shattered Glass" top! One of the coolest tops I had ever saw in my life!
