Types of historic tops

If this has been done before, I apologize...

How about posting pictures of the types of tops as described in BOTB?
I know what a few of these look like, but not all. For example, I have no idea what bird's eye looks like. I know there's an example in BOTB, but I couldn't see it.

From BOTB:

1. Flame
2. Tiger stripe
3. Curly
4. Fiddleback
5. Pin stripe
6. Ribbon curl
7. Blister
8. Bird's eye

Same with the different cuts, quarter, rift & flat.
Things of that nature...

Re: Types of historic tops

N’yuck…n’yuck…n’yuc…

Actually, no. If I didn’t show the definitive figured tops, people would
start posting their opinions of what those tops look like. We would have
five different versions of Tiger Stripe…etc., and the value of the post would
be gone. My hope is that now, after seeing what these tops are supposed
to look like, they will start to show us theirs.

Why coitenly!

Re: Types of historic tops

Yes delawaregold, a smart post.I just picked this up yesterday-an 02 R8-shipped here in 02 but never sold.It was way overpriced,so it remained on display-unsold.Anyway,i'll post a thread about that later.I think it's a good lookalike for the pinstripe in BOTB.

Re: Types of historic tops

My R9 has a very similar top to the Tiger Stripe in BOTB, but with a stronger burst colour. I like it anyway....

Re: Types of historic tops

My '01 R9 is a "Tiger Stripe", but can start looking like pin stripe from some angles. A top with a lot of movement is impossible to photograph with any real meaning. The following composite shot gives an idea of a few of her "moods". The area around the pickup switch is totally mad...

Yes, I would say it qualifies.
Mark, I think this may obligate you to playing this guitar with a bow,
Page style. Whaddayathink?

Re: Types of historic tops

Don't think my pic "took" last time (all I get is a small box), so here it is again. I knew I wanted a Tiger Stripe top, and if the BOTB is correct then mine fits the description.

Re: Types of historic tops

Is that yours, Blueheeler? I know "psychedelic flame" doesn't appear in the official list of descriptions, but that's what it is! I really like the spaced out and uneven ones.
