Marc Bolan Aged Fresh Outta The Box! (Pic Heavy)
This just landed on my lap and it'd be considered a crime not to share it with everyone.
Enjoy! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice! How's the neck feel? Also, did it come Top Wrapped or did you do that? Beautiful axe though!

Re: Marc Bolan Aged Fresh Outta The Box! (Pic Heavy)
Came top wrapped right out the box. Checked it over and plugged it in, plays and sounds like a dream. Convinced me to go home and top wrap one of my LPs!! Neck feels great, just in the middle of Gibson Reissue necks, not thick and not slim, just nice and playable. Would have liked to A/B it to the VOS but it was pre-sold so I don't get to see them side-by-side.
Typically the UK gets the arse-end of the serial numbers, but for some reason all the ones I've spotted arrive are Sub-30/35 out of the 100. With this one being the lowest one I've found for sale in the UK so far. (I know another store place has 22 or 23, and the other 31, and this one is lower than both of those) Note it isn't No.2, I've photoshopped the full number for the privacy of whoever buys it. |

Re: Marc Bolan Aged Fresh Outta The Box! (Pic Heavy)
I don't think there's anyway for anyone to know this without actually knowing, but the body is supposed to be off a '59 Burst, which was refinished and re-necked with a black Norlin Custom neck at somepoint.

Re: Marc Bolan Aged Fresh Outta The Box! (Pic Heavy)
Thanks for the info weirdotis, I guess I always though Mark's guitar was a Custom that was just refinished. I looked at the photos again and I can clearly see that the body is not a Custom at all, my bad

Re: Marc Bolan Aged Fresh Outta The Box! (Pic Heavy)
That makes sense since there's no binding on the back of the body.

Re: Marc Bolan Aged Fresh Outta The Box! (Pic Heavy)
That is really cool!!!
Finally an Aged-Signature Gibson that is actually different and unique instead of basically being just a Murphy R9 with a famous name attached and an overblown price tag. |

Re: Marc Bolan Aged Fresh Outta The Box! (Pic Heavy)
I have the VOS version and love it to death.
I'm thinking it makes sense for Gibson to ship the low numbers to the UK - a much stronger market for this guitar than the US. |

Re: Marc Bolan Aged Fresh Outta The Box! (Pic Heavy)
i have just purchased the vos marc bolan in melbourne.number 7.very happy with that.i would have thought low numbers should have been sent to u.k.given fan base there, however bolan/t.rex fans are just as fanatical overseas so i guess if the first orders came from elsewhere,so be it.
