I'm finally a Historic owner! '57 Black Beauty
Hey Guys,
Well I've been chasing my Grail now for quite a while and finally last night I was able to secure my dream guitar! 3 pickup '57 Les Paul Black Beauty. It's a '97 and in great shape for a 13 year old guitar except for the finish crack at the treble volume knob. The previous owner used a screwdriver to try to take the volume cap off - speaking of Knobs! Anyways...I've been hoping to join the Historic club for a long time now and finally I've made it! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks guys!
Trust me....you wouldn't want a Bigsby on this one cause it's already heavier than a brick shit house!

I'm hoping this will cure the GAS for a while but we all know how that goes!

Re: I'm finally a Historic owner! '57 Black Beauty
I have to say that I'm grooving on the middle position which is an out-of-phase middle/bridge combo.

Re: I'm finally a Historic owner! '57 Black Beauty
Great guitar! Enjoy it. I had one, miss it sometimes. But no matter how hard I tried I couldnt get around that middle pickup. I sold it and bought a R6 (which I love) but I wish I could have kept both.

Gorgeous
![]() Since you have a 3 pup I'll ask you this question, how does the switch work with 3 pickups? When it's up is it the neck and middle, in the middle position it's the middle and bridge, and then down it's the bridge? Am I close at all?

Re: I'm finally a Historic owner! '57 Black Beauty
Neck = only neck
Middle = middle and bridge Bridge = only bridge

Re: I'm finally a Historic owner! '57 Black Beauty
The middle position (Middle and bridge pups) is an out of phase tone which is pretty cool. The neck itself has nice clarity and edge to it. All three positions sound really good on this one.

Re: I'm finally a Historic owner! '57 Black Beauty
Thanks for all the nice comments guys!
I just put her on the digital scale and she's a hefty 11lbs! I thought my GT was heavy at 9.5lbs now this one is 1.5 lbs heavier. I guess I'll have to pick up a wide strap to help distribute the weight (I assume that will help).

Awesome! From the pics, it looks like it's been played a bunch -- must be a good one! Enjoy.
