Les Paul 90th Birthday 1959 Standard Reissue?

Anybody have info on the 2005 1959 Les Paul Reissues done for Les' 90th birthday?

There were 25 made and Les signed the control cavity cover. They sell for about $15k nowadays.

There's one on the 'bay right now.

Sorry to 'burst your bubble (pun intended), guys but these guitars are a major ripoff (IMHO). They are nothing but a stock R9 with Les Paul's autograph on the back control cover plate, along with a special certificate. Yes, it's a nice guitar, but I wouldn't pay any more than $5K or so for it...and I'm normally big on special editions! But the fact is, there's absolutely nothing special about these guitars that would warrant anywhere near that kind of premium. Just my $.02.

Les Paul (the man) either signed or hand wrote the serial numbers on 150 BFGs. A BFG sells for under a grand. The ones with LP's handwriting...$3,000+

I love my BFG, but that's a frick'n ripoff.

Only the COA and the box have the #10.

I agree....nothing special....unlike the Stinger I want....for less money than this guitar!

Thanks. Pretty much what I expected. Didn't burst my bubble

I live in NYC so if I wanted an autograph from Les, I can just pay $60 to see him play any monday...he's apparently a very nice guy and would rather give autographs instead of ever turn somebody down. I've heard mixed reviews of the staff at the Iridium so I still haven't gone to see him.

There are two shows. Go see the second performance and after the show, Les will sign your pickguard, guitar, or whatever. He signed a pickguard and a CD of Guitar Monsters for me. He's a cool dude & a living legend ta boot.

Hey guys, wonder if you would share your thoughts. I have an un-played Les Paul Goldtop Supreme 90th Birthday Paul. One of 90 made. 24k Hardware and hand signed. Absolutly beautiful. Not a player , but great investment guitar. Should I sell or wait? What is is worth? Just thought I`d share this special LP with you. Greg

Re: Les Paul 90th Birthday 1959 Standard Reissue?

Sure is a nice guitar, but definitely a marketing thing.

I love and respect Les Paul for all he has done for the guitar world, but why the extra cash?! Hell, I read somewhere Les Paul himself doesn't even own a '59 Burst! Why are they re-issuing one for his birthday?

Pics? I don't think I've ever seen that one. I've seen the 50th Anni 57 with gold-plated hardware.

Re: Les Paul 90th Birthday 1959 Standard Reissue?

Hi Guys: The picture of the 90th Les Paul is in my little ebay shop on the display screen. It`s not for sale yet, but take a look at the pictures. I still have about 30+ that are my private collection, besides the ones for sale. The ebay store is a clever way of buying more Les Pauls without my wife getting on my case!! Take a look my rep is really solid. I just found your website and you all seem like true LP lovers like I am. Greg Shop eBay Canada Store - USED GIBSON GUITARS:: USED GUITARS, CANADIAN USED GUITARS
