What would you buy a 50th R9 or 2003 R7 Brazilian?
What would you buy a 50th R9 or 2003 R7 Brazilian?
I have 2 choices to buy it as a secondhand. They're the same price. I would like to know from all of Les Paul lovers. |

If the 50th is the original run of either Heritage Cherry or Darkburst with the gold COA (and not the various ones that followed) I would rather have the 50th myself.

Re: What would you buy a 50th R9 or 2003 R7 Brazilian?
Just curious, why would your preference be if the guitar was ONLY from the first run and NOT from the 50th anniversary ones that followed? They all are 50th anniversary and just because of the color of certificate, why would you pass on an otherwise potentially great guitar? Not trying to argue, but would like this as insight for myself for the future. Many thanks.

Well, the first run have a very accurate representation of the actual Burst colors. The other colors are not. Yes they are all 50th anniversary models, you are right, and futhermore I HATE VOS finish!!!
The initial run of 50ths with the two original colors are the only ones that interest me. Other than those, I would prefer a pre 2006 R9. |

Ok, that clarifies it. You mention your preference is for the 2 original colors - not that the subsequent multiple color variations are not good, it is just a preference thing. Some dealers even had special runs (like Wildwood or Vic Dapra). Some of those I think are great, even though they may not have been exactly available originally. Thanks for your post.

Smithman-
There is something to be said about a nice fat neck of a R7, but then so is to say about a nice flamed top. But gold does represent richness then so does a sunburst. Do you see where I'm going with this?
