Faded Tobacco & Darkburst

Is there any difference in what you call Faded Tobacco and Darkburst?
Verry sweet finish by the way! One of my favourites!

'05 Hertiage Darkburst R9 w/ darkback...

'06 Faded Tobacco R8....

Quite a bit different. The first pic of the R8 is natural lighting, and the second is with the flash. Both pics of the R9 are natural.

Yes, a big difference.Like Mike60 said, tobacco has no red-unlike darkburst and triburst which have a noticeable red.

Re: Faded Tobacco & Darkburst

Below are two photo's of my 2003 R8.
The model number call this out as an FT, Faded Tobacco,
but clearly, the color has a lot of red in it. I have seen this
in just about all of the 2003 FT's and a fair number of other
years as well. True Faded Tobacco has no red, but not
everything that Gibson calls Faded Tobacco really are.

Re: Faded Tobacco & Darkburst

My 2 cents-looks like faded tobacco to me.As delawaregold says,'no red' and it looks like there aint no red in that little top. I think the new 58's come in FT.Looks like a FT i had last year.

Smile Re: Faded Tobacco & Darkburst

Hello...

this is my current R9, officially named Faded Tobacco... this is misleading
naming... I'd rather consider it a Darkburst... in real life it's less red in it
than the crap-digicam-pic pretends...

I used to own a 1992 Standard which also has been finished in Tobacco by
Gibson... looked like this... there was no red in at all... though the crappy
cam adds a bit of red to it as well.

Salut
PIT...

Re: Faded Tobacco & Darkburst

This one's a Darkburst from 2000, the colour is almost a maroon or dark burgundy, no brown.

Re: Faded Tobacco & Darkburst

To me a Darkburst is simply darker(blacker) around the edges than a Faded Tobacco and a Triburst is just plain ugly and too busy for my taste with yellow/honey/red/burgundy/dark charcoal and all.
All have red/burgundy hues so that's no indicator unfortunately.
Here's a pic of my 03 Faded tobaccoburst
