Historic Makovers 2007 R9 New Pictures
Here are the new pictures of my 2007 Historic Makeovers R9. I've been waiting for the rain to stop and the sun to come out and finally today it did. I find it to be a difficult guitar to photograph due to the faded colors. The close-ups are the best I can come up with for the actual cherry color.
Again, I am very happy with the color and playability of the guitar. I originally sent it off to HM because I was not playing it at all and was hoping for some renewed interest. Now I'm playing it allot more and could not be happier with my decision. It seems to have much better acoustic properties now and the roll-off binding on the neck has really improved the feel for playability. I'm not posting this guitar for sunshine to be blown or to make H.M. happy. I'm doing it because I enjoy looking at other members guitars and hope you enjoy the pictures of mine. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks. My other guitar made by Tom Bartlett is a Nitro finished and it got louder as it cured. Who would of thought Chemistry was so much fun :^)

Have all the negative comments been removed? Wow, I guess Historic Makeovers are pretty important around here...

Yes, the top carve was done. As for negative comments, I just started a new post with the new pictures. I don't mind comments or opinions at all. The original post is still up not removed. I just didn't want the new pictures to be buried on page two or three.

Re: Historic Makovers 2007 R9 New Pictures
I think it looks great. I have a question for you though (or anyone that has had their guitar done by HM).
I can't tell from their website if the A, B or C packages come standard with vintage correct plastic/hardware parts or if that is extra. Every picture of a HM guitar seems to have them but the way they have it listed is confusing. They have the 3 packages listed with pricing, then they have add on options listed with pricing, then it says "Finish it with vintage correct parts" but theres no pricing listed for that. |

KJ,
No the parts are completely separate. The "A" package for my R9 consisted of: 1. Refinish with light aging 2. Brazilian Rosewood Board 3. Roll off neck binding 4. Refret 5. HM inlays The extras I bought were 1. Top Carve 2. Aged Case The parts on my guitar were purchased along time ago from a MLPF member. |

Re: Historic Makovers 2007 R9 New Pictures
KJ,
It is a little difficult to navigate but here is a link for some pictures and prices: Gibson Parts : RETROSPEC - Vintage Inspired Guitar Equipment, Vintage inspired parts and accessories for guitarists. Most of the hardware on my R9 is Dead Mint Club so I liked it enough not to change it. I do have some of H.M. Retrospecs on another Les Paul I own. |

Cool, I'll take a look through that stuff. Is Retrospec Historic makeovers own brand? Asking because of the way you worded that. |

Re: Historic Makovers 2007 R9 New Pictures
If I find a nice plaintop R8 I think I'll be sending it off for a recarve and GT refin.
