2 R9's from 2000-nice flame
Recently got these at a little show here in Oz.Two very different types of flame, but both very attractive-well they are to me.

Really nice.
I prefer the one on the right. Looks like a twin to mine, which is also a 2000!

Yes, they just might be twins.I often wonder if Gibson- not realising it- make small runs of guitars from the same batch of timber, that end up looking very similar and have serial numbers that are not so far apart.
Here's a pic of them at the show

Re: 2 R9's from 2000-nice flame
Nick59-It was a show in Brisbane which started last year.Hopefully it will continue for years to come.It seems to draw a good crowd of people over the weekend. The whole stand- in the pic- is set up by Jacksons. The show is organised by Guitar Brothers- a local Brissy shop.My two are the one on the right and the one laying down on the table.

Re: 2 R9's from 2000-nice flame
Doh! After I posted the question I saw the little sign in the photo saying Jackson's! There was a guitar festival here in Adelaide, but it was all acoustics, and there are almost no Custom Shop Les Pauls at dealers here. The flame on the RH guitar is similar in appearance to mine (pics in the gallery), so I guess Gibson had a lot of maple with that figuring in '99/00. A good score for you, anyway!

Re: 2 R9's from 2000-nice flame
I'll go to the gallery and see if i can find it.What about Deringers??? Thats an Adelaide shop-i think. They have a cool 59RI on the bay at the moment. There's also a nice 02 58 flametop in butterscotch on the bay-actually it may have ended, but it was 4 sale 3/4 months ago. If it comes up again later in the year i may bid on it.You just have to keep track of whats around, Mark

Re: 2 R9's from 2000-nice flame
I was told that the last of the '99s and the first of the '00s had the same paint job, but I don't know how true that is. It's a nice browny-red, a bit like the sunrise teaburst. My '99 was from the US, as I couldn't find anything at the time in Oz. I specifically wanted the tiger stripe flame (even if it isn't very trendy), and the one I found fit the bill.
