More Page Les Pauls? What would they do?
It is my understanding that the Page #3 (with B-bender) is a possible guitar in the future. I was told before by a Gibson rep that it is a marginal guitar & they would not do it; but when they found out it was a late 69 and that Jimmy has some interest in doing a signature guitar, it is back on the table as a potential guitar. Nothing decided yet. There could also be another Page guitar that Page designs with Gibson - like a new guitar, R9, with Jimmy's preferred features. Could be interesting.

I can understand why Gibson would want to make more Page guitars ($$$), but I think it will diminish the Page line as a whole. Page can't be hurting for money.

Didn't Jimmy say when the B-Bender was installed it ruined the guitar's tone?
I'd like to see Fender do something like this:

Would you prefer another Slash model? Another Zach Wylde maybe? A Buckethead model?

At some point... Gibson will be doing signature models based upon guitars famous players have looked at pictures of.

Re: More Page Les Pauls? What would they do?
My biggest beef is that it would be a copy of a Norlin. And you can easily get a real 69 in player condition for less money & have it modified to look like the real thing. I guess it is more desirable to the masses if Gibson makes a new copy with their stamp of approval. It would be no different from Gibson doing the Randy Rhoads.

Re: More Page Les Pauls? What would they do?
Gibson will milk the Page thing for as long as they can. It wont be long now before they reissue the reissue of page #1. I have a Number #1 and a custom 3 pick up page. I will buy no more. The Gibson marketing folks have played their hands well with the historic and sig lines, but it cant and wont last forever..... what happens after that is the cost cutting, lower quality and then they sell the brand. We have already seen the beginning stages.... Dont get me wrong.... I love my Gibsons, im just not buying any new ones.

With the exception of certain color options (faded tops, etc) and the "aging" of certain models, the majority of the artists specs can easily be achieved on a Standard, RI, and pretty much any other LP, for A LOT less money. I'm not saying it's stupid to buy sig guitars (because, I'm really GASsing for a Peter Frampton sig), but all of the people that usually whine about "why don't they make a "insert artist's name here" signature guitar", could easily just find out particular artist's specs, go from there...unless of course they happen to be Buckethead?

Re: More Page Les Pauls? What would they do?
they should make a Page guitar that stays in the production lineup - like the clapton strat...these continued limited Page editions are a bit much (especially that Page LPC - not saying its not a cool guitar, but come on)

Re: More Page Les Pauls? What would they do?
I'm wondering when we will start seeing signature guitars based on Historics. Clearly there are plenty of big names playing Historics, and Gibson seems to want to make as many signature models as possible. They already have done a few based on Norlins, so its only a matter of time I bet

Re: More Page Les Pauls? What would they do?
The randy rhoads i played was a surprisingly good guitar, very resonant. But i didn't like the norlin feel. and i'm not a randy fan either so i wouldn't buy it. But it was a damned nice guitar.

+100000 that tele was badass. That is a worthy Page signature. After all Clapton has defected and returned from Gibson to Fender many times now.
