R9 50th anniversary question

Can someone please help me out with this one, if a LP R9 from 2009 50th year anniversary was only limited to 500 made then is it still ok for serial number to be 9 for the reissued year 9 for the year made then 1000+ eg 1001 if there was only 500 made? bit confussed here

Re: R9 50th anniversary question

The gold COAs were limited to 500. There were an additional (probably) 2,500 R9s also made in 2009 with the regular black COA.

Re: R9 50th anniversary question

but was the additional 2,500 made in 2009 also part of the 50 year anniversary? my question being is that one is advertised as being 50 year annversary and 1 of 59 made in this colour, if that is so why has it a serial number 9 91058 being in the thousands???

Re: R9 50th anniversary question

All of the 2009 R9s were 50th anniversaries. The first 500 were one of several "editions" There were several colors after the initial Heritage Cherry burst or Heritage Dark burst that were one of 59. All the serial numbers belong to the same series. That is, they do not start over at 001 for each edition. Just because your SN is
991058 does not mean it can't be one of 59 of that edition. It is just the 1,058th one made from the ENTIRE run of R9s made in 2009.

Re: R9 50th anniversary question

There was a time before 1999 where Historics were ACTUALLY limited, now they are just another production guitar. The exception was 2001 and 2002 R9s which were farily limited, but 1999, 2000 and 2003-present, they make around 2000-2500 R9s each year.
