Desert Burst Plain Top?

Hey folks,

I'm from Germany and I'm about to order a R8. For it's a custom order (because Lefty R8's aren't around here that much) I'm privileged to choose the color I want to out of the Gibson Finishes.
I really want to go for "Desert Burst", but I've just never seen a Plain Top Desert Burst yet. If someone knows a link or has a picture of a desert burst plain top (or a plaintop with a finish that looks quite similiar), I would really appreciate if you could post it here.

Many thanks in advance!

Re: Desert Burst Plain Top?

As far as I know, "desert burst" is not a Gibson Custom color. The USA models do come in this color. Your R8 lefty is a Gibson Custom guitar.
Gibson Custom colors include: Honey Burst, Tobacco Burst, Light Burst, Iced Tea Burst, Lemon Burst, Vintage Sun Burst and, of course, the original Heritage Cherry Sun Burst.

Ya never know, wouldn't be the first time someone ordered a different or non-standard color.

Re: Desert Burst Plain Top?

Thanks a lot, I din't know there were "Custom Shop Finishes" and "USA Finishes". I don't know much about the custom shop, either. I'll go through the finishes you named, thanks anyway!

Re: Desert Burst Plain Top?

Hi, eventually something in this range.

http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/hist...rphy-aged.html

Sure there are standard colours for CS models, but i think also a few exeptions. I`ve seen a lot of different colours here around which don`t fit
the standard range of colours.

Greetings

Frank

P.S. Grüsse und hier wirst bestimmt fündig, irgendwer wird hier schon ne Desert Burst
ähnliche CS ausgraben

Re: Desert Burst Plain Top?

Okay,
what about some Light Burst Plain Tops? I couldn't find any threads about 'em. Some pics would be nice.

Re: Desert Burst Plain Top?

Neroammy,

I'm a lefty as well, and one of these days I hope to my hands on a R8.

I did some research a while back and the dealers I spoke with said they could only get lefty R8's in (Washed) Cherry Sunburst, Iced Tea, and Faded Tobacco. You may have different info (directly from Gibson), but I thought I would let you know what I was told.

Good luck and let us know how it goes....

Cheers,

Barker

Oh yeah, if you haven't found it yet we have a lefty group here called Southpaw City. Check it out... http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/grou...hpaw-city.html

Re: Desert Burst Plain Top?

Butterscotch, Light Iced Tea and Sunset Tea are some colour options that were recently introduced for R8s. Sorry the text is in danish, but there are some pics of the different finishes there. Go into the one you want to see, click on the pic on top of the page, and you get a blown up version of the picture. The fairly new "Solid Black" R8 is also there BTW. I don't know how many of these colours are available in left-handed versions, though.

Re: Desert Burst Plain Top?

Oh my god, this new "Light Iced Tea" Finish is the best I've ever seen. Seems like I have found my choice. Thanks a lot, boys.

Frank, your R8 is awesome! I have said it before, and I'll likely say it again. It's definitely one of my favorites I've seen here on our wonderful site... I really like Nico's LP as well.

Neroammy,

Let us know what you end up ordering, and be sure to post some pics!

Cheers,

Barker
