Chambered reissue tops
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed Gibson seems to be putting some of the nicest vintage looking tops and paint jobs on their chambered reissues? Most of the time I see a top which I really love they've gone and put it on a chambered...
For example: Gibson Custom Shop Chambered '58 Reissue Les Paul - Dave's Guitar Shop |

Re: Chambered reissue tops
Nice top on that one at Dave's!
To my eyes, the "subtle figured tops" they put on a lot of the '58 reissues have more of a vintage vibe than many R9s I see. I'm pretty happy with my two Chambered '58's:2009 Chambered '58 ![]() 2007 Chambered '58 ![]() 2009 Double-Carve '58 RI

Re: Chambered reissue tops
Thanks Danelectro, definitely helping prove my point with those ones too! How do they compare with the solids to you tonewise? I'm really tempted by that one I linked up.

Re: Chambered reissue tops
I think they use tops that don't quite make the cut for an R9/R0 for these CRs...but that's just my opinion.

Re: Chambered reissue tops
I am in love with CRs. I have just bought another one at Mark's Guitar Loft, pictured below. I have an older one (2007) and the Dusk Tiger, which is also chambered. Can't put these down.
Don't have this last one in my hands yet, should be getting it tomorrow. Apart from the tops - good looking guitars are always nice - it's the sound that catches me. Compared to solids - reissues - to me these sound more interesting. Way more. Re: Chambered reissue tops
Tim, I wish they would use those tops! Don't make the cut?! Who's choosing the tops at Gibson!? Hahah, guess it's all personal preference though.
Dallas, thanks for sharing, she's a beauty! Looking forward to a NGD thread for that one tomorrow

Thanks Jonny. I'm not a real fan of NGD threads, I'd rather shoot a video with it o hear her. And I will.

It has a lot of character and would kill to have that on my wall and over my shoulder.

Re: Chambered reissue tops
What's the average weight of a chambered reissue R8?
