Re: Match your Historic to Beauty of The Burst

Fun thread! There are two burst tops that remind me of my Bloom. Although the Bursts are different, the angle and/or view of the flame on the two reminded me of two pics of by guitar. More wiggle in the burst top in the second pic, but the intensity and direction of the flame looked familiar. The first pic has the flame moving in a different direction, but the flame (in this particular photo) was somewhat similar to my eye.

Example 1

Example 2

Re: Match your Historic to Beauty of The Burst

I found this 1 on the Burst log . I think it looks similar to my 1960 , 50th. Anni.

The real burst # 0 8354

The 50th. Anni.
# 0 03XX

Re: Match your Historic to Beauty of The Burst

Not a Beauty of the Burst match, but I have a historic I can match to my Burst:

Both are 9 0423. Gibson built the 2010 version to match my 1959 version. And it's the best Historic I own. Would not change a thing.

Well THAT is an awesome story and situation! Congratulations, sir!

You might be the only guy in the world with a new and old burst with matching serials.

Is this burst the one previously owned by gregor hilden?

Re: Match your Historic to Beauty of The Burst

Thanks, I am indeed fortunate. Gibson really came through big time.

I bought the Burst from Eric Johnson. 20 years prior, Eric had bought it from the original owner, a preacher in Texas named Buddy.

LOL I noticed that as I was cropping the photo and I thought to myself, "Should I take another photo with the switch on Rhythm?" but I came to my senses knowing that I've already got enough things to get done without wasting more time taking pictures of guitars.

Ya, and the string ball ends are all wrong. Nice try though, Dan.

Honestly, that's one of the best match-ups here. Very beautiful!

I was surprised how well these matched up! The original has a bit more red in the finish but the tops are pretty close!

Thanks

I really like these photos on here. The book must be a "must have" book as well ? Lets see if I can find the book first and read bit about the Burst craze.

Thanks man , It's an R0 although . I got it new from SA in, IIRC May or April of 10 . It's a Gold, 1 of the 500 . Version 3 . I think the figure is ok and since I found the Original Burst , I've started to like it even more . As far as playing , I love this 1 . A real SlimTaper Neck . which suits me well . She's bright toned and loves to scream when I push her hard LOL!!!!!!!
And I do play her

In a few weeks , when I get my hand rehab'd. I can play now , but it's a little difficult and not with out a price = some pain . Not bad or anything , but it's not back to normal yet . I'll go though some of my older videos and see it there is anything I like for posting . Cool ?
