Question Loose Bridge Saddle Screw

Anybody have any advice on a simple way to tighten the fit of a loose saddle screw in one of the bride saddles on a Les Paul reissue? The screw fits the saddle, but is a little loose in the grooves of the saddle and therefore rattles a bit. I'm hoping somebody's got a neat little trick for solving this. Thanks.

Sounds like a question for the "Ask Roman" thread. He's one of our expert Luthiers on the page.

Re: Loose Bridge Saddle Screw

Thanks for the suggestion, but I want to still be able to make intonation adjustments and don't want to permanently glue the screw in the saddle. Rather I am just looking for a way to "snug up" the fit of the screw in the string saddle. I would assume that either hardened nail polish or super glue would not allow the screw to turn anymore. No?

Re: Loose Bridge Saddle Screw

The nail polish works a charm -- It is strong enough to stop any rattles, but is easily un-done when you want to change the intonation. Just a dab will do ya.

The best solution is to pony up for a pigtail ABR, but the nail polish works just fine.

+2 on the nail polish! I've used that for years on mine and my customers.
