I have two American Cocker Spaniels. They're not quite dust mop ankle biter dogs, but they're not too big to have around the house comfortably either! They're good dogs for the most part!

the bonus to not using straplocks, once you break the headstock, you can get a couple of screws put in the front and it'll look like a Rossington.

If it ever happens again .. I'll get a few of those rubber gaskets from the tops of Grolsh beer bottles to act like straplocks !!!

WOW! Are those stress cracks on the neck, or just scratches? Looks like you narrowly avoided disaster there...

The lacquer came out in shards like glass..

Come to think of I had Dunlops on that one - Schallers went on after that with no problems.

Re: Historic Battle Scars - Lets See 'Em!

I don't understand how you get belt buckle scratches. I usually have my t-shirt out of my pants and covers the belt buckle. If I am in a colder place my sweater most of the time will cover it as well.
OH yeah, I always hit the damn mic stand with my headstock. It's a classic.

Although I have to say that my Strat took abuses that no other LP could have taken.

So do I. Never had much of an issue with Poly finished guitars, but the Nitro on my R8 picks up light buckle rash through my shirt. Go figure!

I'm a Schaller man as well - on all of my LP's. I don't trust the Dunlop design... At least you didn't end up with a broken neck!

Re: Historic Battle Scars - Lets See 'Em!

funny reading this thread, if you even LOOK at a nitro finish the wrong way, it leaves a mark. Damn guitars are about as fragile as a wedding cake!

Talking Re: Historic Battle Scars - Lets See 'Em!

I'll bet I've got you all beat by a landslide. Time~wise anyways.

Just received this R8 last night. Got her out & was polishing her up & took off the strings to replace them as they were the originals.

Mint '07 R8 Plain Top. Perfect Condition... until...

Went out to take care of something & came home to find my wife wanted to do me a favor & install my new strings for me. She's done this many many times & I absolutely trust her to do so.

Well...... This Time.

Was just going to let it go, but seeing it's so new (to me anyway & was in minty condition) took her in to the repair shop.

Only going to set me back $35.00 USD. Not too bad. But I'm sure I'll still have to give her a spanking!

I think you should leave it as is.. a little reminder of your wife every time you play it! Great story behind the dings and battle scars! Welcome
