After 11 years of dreaming about owning a Les Paul, I finally found myself with a few extra thousand dollars and decided to go down to my friendly neighborhood L&M Music and bought a brand new Gibson Custom Les Paul Standard VOS in washed cherry. And I must say, it's soooo much sweeter than I ever could have imagined...I mean I've built this up in my head for so long there was no way for it to live up to my expectations... but it did and then some. July 11 will be a holiday in my house for years to come. That Squier I've been playing just couldn't make my Marshall DSL100 roar quite the the beautiful tone of the Paul. This was the last step in my Ultimate Setup.

Re: It's better than I had dreamed
Thats exactly how I felt today as well. I've done some acoustic jams on Historics, and new that I needed to pick one up. The particular one that arrived today was even nicer than the few that I'd had my hands on in the past - and despite the months of waiting and as you said "building it up in my head," it exceeded my expectations.
Looking forward to seeing your pictures! Edit: The pix look great! I added new photos in my thread as well. Congrats!

Re: It's better than I had dreamed
Congratulations are truely in order, SWEET Guitar! Year by year the historics got more and more accurate, yet I could rationalize not doing it because I'm familiar enough with the old ones to know that I wouldn't have been satisfied. Well, with that said, 2008 rolls around and although I didn't have the cash just lying around, I was POWERLESS when I picked up and played the 08R8FTSBVOS that I NOW OWN.....couldn't BE happier, and it is better than I had anticipated .

Re: It's better than I had dreamed
anyone in the market for a standard would have rocks in their head not to spend a few bucks more for a VOS standard RI. I love both of mine. It really can be better than sex and a good bowel movement combined.

Re: It's better than I had dreamed
not like combined at the same time, but more like a few hours apart, completely independent of each other and random.

Re: It's better than I had dreamed
Congrats, that one looks like my R8's sister.. beautiful. That's the lightest colored rosewood I've seen on an R8, looks great and I bet it sounds better than it looks through that Marshall half stack eh?
