I only did the headstock and little section by the horn where the maple cap peeks through so far !!! It makes very fine lines that you have to turn into the light to see !! But the digicam picks them up well !!

Re: " SYBIL " Got a Bit of a Makeover !!!

Why are pickup rings more expensive than the pickups themselves?

Despite the cost, the guitar looks amazing!

The DMC pup rings are right on !! Correct color , shape , proper mold marks underneath !! But yes way expensive !!! Pained me to spend that much but I couldn't find any " Over the Pond " rings !!! I also think DMC is the only maker to nail the PAF covers !!! ... Sybil is off now getting her new Pigtail ABR1 installed ! Pics to follow !

Re: " SYBIL " Got a Bit of a Makeover !!!

How do you like the Wolfetones? Do they work well for classic rock a la Led Zeppelin?

I'm assuming they would, but I've never heard any clips.

Also, what colors are the bezels?

I knew I posted the wrong word. Bezel is another word for pickup ring.

Thanks for the clips!

Re: " SYBIL " Got a Bit of a Makeover !!!

Those guys have good taste in amps! I use a Classic 30, which is in the first two videos. The guy in the third is using a Peavey Delta Blues, which is a Classic 30 with a 15-inch speaker and tremolo.

BOBBO that is a beautiful guitar! I found one a few months back that i really wanted to buy, but i have to get out of school first lol... I gotta admit, i dont think i would have the balls to do what you did to sybil though. Looks great, Thumbs up!

Also the R8 i played had the "Bobbo Mod"... i think GC needs to pay you some royalties for that lol.

I thought the only Custom Shop guitars with the BobboMod were the Jimmy Page's ??? The checking I did really didn't come out as bold as it looked in those pictures !!! About an hour after I did it the finish leveled back out alot !!! Thinking about experimenting more with the hot /cold or cold/hot method in the future ?

Well it was a trade in.. and the sales guy said that the only modification was the double thumb wheels . I would have jumped on it if i could..

From looking at those two pics i believe that it has indeed faded a bit.. may just be the lighting though, looks great regardless.

Wow that is a lot of stuff.

It looks good but, has any of it actually given you the ability to actually play the guitar with greater skill, ability and knowledge?

Just curious because I have been working on/struggling with sweep arpeggios and was wondering if changing my truss rod cover and pickup bezels would help.

I jest, but I always wonder where mods cross the line from functional and practical to obsessive compulsive.
Whatever makes you happy. Everyone has got their thing.

I have always been on a quest for ability and musicality not vintage correct plastic.
But, I admit it does look cool and probably has a powerful mental placebo effect.

Maybe somewhere down the line I thought of having a refin done but it would have to be by somebody excellent like Dave Johnson !! and he has quite a long waiting list i'm sure !!!! As for the bridge posts , I think those aren't an issue !!! Yet

Actually , With each new upgraded piece I put on it my playing skills increase 5 fold !!!! ... But seriously , I think the only uprades that made the guitar sound better were the pups and the Pigtail hardware , and the double thumbwheels stabilize the bridge !!! Other than that it's just me feeding my vintage OCD !!!!
