Dumb tuning peg question ...
Okay, this might fall into the category of "too trivial for words" but I read that you're supposed to wrap your string around the tuning peg so that each successive wrap is closer to the headstock than the previous one.
If I squint real hard, I can imagine some torque or leverage thing going on here ... but is there really any reason not to do it the other way around, or is this just a rule of thumb to help you keep your winds around the tuning peg neat? |

Re: Dumb tuning peg question ...
It helps increase the break angle over the nut, stabilizing the string in the nut slot.
It also snugs up the wraps above the last.
