shred scale
Amaze your friends! Try this in 3 octaves descending starting on the high e 12th fret: E D A# A G# F then repeat starting on the G string E 9th fret. Play it over a phrygian riff, something sabbathy. I stumbled across this one on my own, and have yet to find it in writing anywhere. for now, I shall name it Dego Dominant

Re: shred scale
Just played it, sounds cool, pick a root so we can name that thing
![]() To me it's sounds like D natural minor with the b5... D - E - F - G - Ab - A - Bb - C - D

Re: shred scale
The root of the spelled out example is in E, and it has some funky tonality. were looking at root, flat 2, 3, 4, flat 5, flat 7. diminished doesnt work cause were missing the flat 3. D minor flat 5 were missing a 4th and a 7th, I think its too far removed, and its tonaly in E to begin with. Whatever it is, it has awesome shred potential!!!

Re: shred scale
Got it.
The Hungarian minor is spelled: 12b3#45b67 In D that would give: DEFG#ABbC# Your lick skips the C#, but it's basically a subset of that. You're hearing it over an E, so what you've got here is the second mode of the Hungarian minor. |
