any one else have this happen to them
I believe I have a pretty good ear but, lately when I start to play lead over a song from my ipod...I have to search for the key...
now, I did have a period in my development, where I had to search for the key but, for years I could get it in a few seconds... I think that I am hearing differently...seeing how certain times a song's key is more flexibility then I previously heard...it feels like when I first start playing a new leading tone or a new alt. note...say when I first started using the lydian interchangeable with the ionion.... but it is bigger. like the whole key center is dynamic instead of static....maybe, I am hearing the substitute chords that could be used, in my minds eye or, I am hearing internal voice movement that is more flexably... I am not sure but, one thing is that when I play in the secondary key (for sake of a better term) it takes a lot of finesse and my choices have to be well exicuted..... any one else have a similar experience

Give us a song as an example ..
I sort of naturally default to certain modes while riffing as i grow older because i suspect its just the way the tunes balance out for me in my head. (Is that what u r saying) |

Re: any one else have this happen to them
okay...I was playing over Josie today and it was totaly different experince...I honestly do not know what to think....I am a bit unable to understand what happened...over all it was a D Ionian and I could then move into D Lydian and A minor pentatonic and a bit into D harmonic major...that all makes sense to me and is not radical at all...I think I will try again and see what happens...
