My Scale.?!?.
I use this scale a lot I mean I didn't learn it from anybody because I mostly taught myself when I started but you can use it in any chord...Im gonna try to give an example ok if I was playing in (G)...
Start at G(on the 6 string), hit A(6th String) then slide to B(still 6th) move down to D(5th string)-E(5th string) to G(4th string) then you can start all over again from anywhere...I use it a lot and I just stumbled upon it when I first started playin guitar. I know its been used I was just wonderin who all uses it and I thought I would share it with you all... (its ok if you steal my universial scale) lol

Re: My Scale.?!?.
My fav pentatonic is the minor pentatonic; I'll giver yer it in A but it can be used in any key
E--------------------------------5--8------ b--------------------------5--8------------ g--------------------5--7------------------ d--------------5--7------------------------ a--------5--7------------------------------ e--5--8------------------------------------ The 5th on the low e and high E and the 7th on te D are rought notes. (A) Here it is with some blues notes added in. E-----------------------------------5--8------ b-----------------------------5--8------------ g----------------------5-7-8----------------- d----------------5--7------------------------ a--------5-6-7------------------------------- e--5--8-------------------------------------- I mostly use that. (with a few more notes for a larger scale version) I also haven't had any lessons; found out most of my info from t internet, lol. MVL.

Re: My Scale.?!?.
lol yea I've never been taught I just play and I dont do tabs I just do what sounds right if that makes since, I find that I enjoy playing my own style on other peoples songs. When people learn by tabs they just copy a song you know? That is a cool scale I might post mine up later when I have my guitar with me so I can hear it...Im just wierd I guess lol.

Re: My Scale.?!?.
I never had much interest in tab either, but I have changed my mind in recent years. I don't typically learn an entire song (lead parts) from tab because I can pick out most everything by ear. But, it is very valuable for getting those tricky riffs that you just can't seem to figure out. It has also introduced me to playing in all those different scale modes (some of which, as an old country boy from the south, I can't quite pronounce).

Re: My Scale.?!?.
Yea I was talkin about the people who can't play any other way but tabs...You have to make things your own. I also agree that they do help you out when you are trugglin with some parts.

Re: My Scale.?!?.
Well your playing ability is limited when your playing with your friends and the singer yells solo and all you know is maybe 1 pentatonic pattern and you might not know if your playing it as major or minor and can't follow the chord changes. What I would do is get fretboard logic or whatever floats your boat and learn all the major scales, only five patterns, the five pentatonic patterns and learn about the relative minor, I would also learn the major 7th scale and the arpeggios for all scales and it's not as hard as it sounds only
five patterns that you move around. So when the singer yells solo you know where to go and can follow the 1-6-4-5 chord progression. Knowledge is power ?
