Self-taught

Hi, as a self taught guitar player I've been playing for 3 months and every time I practice I start with playing some chords, than playing song with chords like ac/dc's and green day's wich are simple. After that I do some of the exercise in rock discipline of petrucci, wich are some speed exercise and scale fragment, my question is: wich are good song to start with to learn how to play?I mean that I know many simple chords song to start but I can't find songs to start with that don't have chords, like sweet child o mine. To you self taught guitar players wich songs did you start playing? And what could I play for a medium level player? Thanks

Re: Self-taught

I started playing some of Sublime's stuff. Really easy chords and their solo's and stuff are pretty simple. The first song I learned from them was Santeria. It's pretty simple and although I played it over and over, I wouldn't get tired of it because it was so much fun playing. I guess my point is to choose a song your going to enjoy playing over and over.

I just wrote this in a previous post but I am really impressed with:

Classic Rock, Metal, and Shred DVD Guitar Lessons

maybe these DVDs are right up your alley?

Re: Self-taught

i started with really easy stuff like Blink 182 and the offspring

so easy yet they are really fun to play if you like that kind of music. I usually play Blink 182's DAMMIT as a warm up.
