No sure wheer to put this, but buying your first electric
I've been using a solid nylon stringed acoustic for at least 6 months now, so I think it's about time for an electric. I've never really had any experience with amps either so I don't have much to fall back on. Plus I hardly have any money for a budget, 250 at most.
Any suggestions? EDIT: Sorry about misspelling where, I was kind of rushing. |

How much amp can you run in your house or apartment without the neighbors getting upset?
You can get a Blackheart Little Giant for about $250 or less on the used market. It's a great little tube amp that you can run at 3 or 5 watts. |

Cool! Since you aren't sure what you would like, I would look through Craigslist regularly - you can pick up a used practice amp for practically nothing (less than $20 usually). That will free up the rest of your money for a little better guitar. Something like a 15 watt solid state amp will get you going while you discover what you really are looking for. A couple of questions to help you narrow your search: - have you tried playing any electrics? If so, did any feel more comfortable to you? - What style of music are you looking to play? If you haven't gone to a music store to try out various electrics, do that. Play as many as you can get your hands on. That will help you determine what suits you best.

Re: No sure wheer to put this, but buying your first electric
I have been to a guitar store to try out some rigs, and I'm not sure about sound, since I didn't get to try out any of the guitars with amps, so. However, I like the feel of the Strato-like models, but I still need to try out some guitars.

Re: No sure wheer to put this, but buying your first electric
Hmm well I know that squier makes a kit with a 15 watt amp and a strat for about 250. That was my first guitar/amp. I have upgraded the amp big time, and the guitar only has the body from the original guitar but it was a good start.
Good luck on the electric, and there are some decent 110-150 dollar guitars at rondomusic.com on the first page. Mostly strats of okay quality.

Vasek-Toronto
Zep101-That squier deal sounds pretty good. Know anywhere where I can get that shit? Possibly in Toronto? EDIT: I found a guitar+amp on craigslist? What are your guys opinion? http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/mss/ele/1455631425.html http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/msg/1454993762.html |

Re: No sure wheer to put this, but buying your first electric
Here's the Squier package from MF
Buy Fender SE Special Strat with Squier SP-10 Amp Value Pack | Value Package Electric Guitars | Electric Guitar Value Packages | Musician's Friend I'm pretty sure they ship to Canada. You'll have their return policy plus any warranty issues, which you won't have on anything used. I don't have any experience with the Squier other than the generally positive comments/reviews on various forums. |

IMHO...buy used and, get a little better gear then the cheap stuff (so stay away from the kits in those boxes, dig?).....ask a friend who can play guitar well or your guitar teacher to go with you to check out the used stuff....peace
