ok...I was wondering: how do you count 5 and 7 and 9 over a 4/4 measure(the whole measure, all four 1/4 beats)...I have no problem with 3 against 4 but the others are strange....

Find the common denominator: eg for 5 against 4 the CD would be 20. Think of it as 16th notes in 5/4 (1234 2234 3234 4234 5234. Obviously the 1/4 note beat is your 5; and to find the 4 beat, accent every fifth 16th note...

...put it all in a drum machine & just listen to it looping until the pattern gets into your head & you aren't thinking about the count...
