1st Installment: New Video Series: "Blues You Can Use"

Hey guys,

At the suggestion of a few people, I am endeavouring to bring a new video series that'll demo gear, tone and technique. This is not in anyway to suggest that I am a qualified teacher or that my tone or gear is better than anyone elses. I definitely encourage others to make their own installments to this series. Maybe it'll help and or inspire some of you guys out there to concentrate on playing as much as on the latest adornments to your Lesters!!

Anyway, this first video is just showing you a couple different chords that can spice up your swing blues. I don't name the chords or get into the tab...it's just closeups of my hands so that perhaps you'll absorb the sounds and maybe you can pick up the fingerings just by watching. Most of all, have fun!!

Re: 1st Installment: New Video Series: "Blues You Can Use"

Oh, a couple things...when playing chords in a band context (more than a trio), try to play no more than the top 4 strings. This avoids playing the low root which can really muck up the sound when the bass hits the same note...or piano, or other guitarist.

Triads are perfect in a two guitar band.

One last thing, I believe I say B flat at one point? I obviously meant B.

Oh sorry for the buzz of the amp. It still has the 2 prong cord...even when I flip the ground switch it buzzes. I'm so used to it, I don't notice.

Very cool stuff that isn't overly hard, and was well broken down. I liked it and am learning the chords.

Well that's great!! I'll take suggestions...(not requests ha!), on what approach seems to be most helpful, or even on how to film it...as I know nothing about production etc.

Thanks again ArchEtech!!
