Re: Rocksmith 2014!

I'm using Morley A/B/Y. Having a box like that is handy enough to make it worth buying one. You can find all sorts of uses for it in your gear.

That said, I'd have no problems using a cheap Y cable for the game.

That would need to be mono, correct ?

I'm getting a Radial ABY as a present, but I don't want to wait!

Space ostrich....oh my god I love this song, very fun to play

to give an idea of the song, with the 2011 edition (not me) :

it sounds a lot better at my place, with 2014 though.

So, a Muse 5 pack this week! Not the 5 pack I'd have chosen, but I can't wait to fail all over the Hysteria bass line.

Definitely a surprisingly fun song. I only played it because I had a mission to play new songs, and it was short. That and Surf Hell.

Like I said, it depends on what you want to learn, I was like you before.

I'll give you two examples :

- Space ostrich....I'm sure you don't know this one. Incredibly fun to play.

- Don't look back in Anger (Oasis). Not a bad song, not one of my fav and definitlely not one I'd have thought I'd wanted to learn. Finally, it mixes a lot of different chords and they shift pretty fast (rhythm guitar) and it really makes me improve my shifting speed on chords (F, Fm7, G, G7, Em, Am, A, C, C9.....)

So it really depends what you want to do.

Do you just want to learn some songs ? Sure, don't buy rocksmith and just youtube the lessons you want
Do you want to improve you overall guitar skills ? Then trust the songs from the setlist (or the DLC) they'll do it, believe me.

I don't know what you like but I am the same way.....but with the stuff from the original coming over and the newer downloads it seems that more music is coming that I like.

I am messing with this program about....been playing My Girl this week....been having a blast, it is a pretty simple song.

I can see myself getting better and I think that is what it is all about.

I also think that for nothing else even the games are worth the price. This is the only thing my xbox is used for anymore.

That's what he (the drummer) is supposed to do, yes. And a lot of people find this pretty great.
I'm not good enough to jam with it, and you can choose other gears like bass, violin....you also choose a scale, and let's go.

[QUOTE=Muttering Bill;5596900]It's not even a huge issue, as I'll clear them anyway just by learning new songs. But my OCD gamer tendencies drive me to unlock everything and earn my trophies asap. I've been playing the same 2 songs over and over because it keeps giving me missions for things that I've already done.

Oh, im not suggesting it wouldn't be 'great'. I'm still tryn to get my head around the fact that it's even possible.

This would mean, that this video game, has the ability to 'learn' on its own (listen and make adjustments) ?

I feel like i just stepped threw a time warp or somthing. (Did not know AI was perfected yet) at least not for the private sector. (Non milatary)

Man, it seems like just yesterday, the high score on Galaxa was the target.

Re: Rocksmith 2014!

The game is kinda slow to listen and catch changes. It takes at least a whole measure .... of complete silence.

I would rather instead of AI, it just let me choose some song styles or chord progressions and key.

As it is, there is no 8 or 12 bars and a turn around. There is really no way to do a "hook" of any kind.

Ah, well, still fun to mess with.

Re: Rocksmith 2014!

Session mode isn't quite as great as they'd like you to believe, and I got tired of it pretty quickly.

As said above, the only real changes it does is get way too loud or stop playing entirely. It's essentially just a customizable backing track. But there are an impressive amount of options. It does allow you to have the scale displayed on the screen, and it highlights chord tones. So it is helpful, but not quite revolutionary.

Re: Rocksmith 2014!

Thursday night I tried something new on RS, for me anyway. I switched paths to Rhythm just to see what the difference would be for me. Turns out, I am way better at playing this way than playing the lead version. I don't know how many hours I played it this way but it was very fun for me.

If you haven't checked into playing the rhythm version give it a shot. Pretty fun with a bunch of new challenges.

I did the same thing when my wife bought me an acoustic as this years x-mas present. I agree, it's awesome. A great way to practice your chord-work.

Re: Rocksmith 2014!

Thing is Eddie, the game has more difficulties to analyze the chords with 4 or more fingers so it might be easier to get good scores. the solo parts have a lot arpeggios and the game is more accurate.

BUT I love playing rhythm parts too, because it learns you chords, and how to switch from one chord to another. And most of time, the arpeggios from the solos are based on the same chords.

Try "don't look back in anger" for a lot a chords switching

You are right about the chord changes. One of the reasons I like the rhythm section of the game. I NEED TONS of practice on chord changes first.
I'll give it a look tonight after the wife goes to bed. She has to work Monday and Tuesday. So I may have plenty of play time.

I went to Best Buy today and picked up a $20 PSN card. Look forward to using this a little also.

I switch between the lead and the rhythm styles depending on what I feel like on that particular session. I like the fact that it forces me to play chords that I wouldn't usually play (or certainly in positions I wouldn't usually play it).

There great DLC out there.
I've bought Bohemian Rhapsody, SMoke on the water, Iron Maiden PAck, My Sharona ( I love this song) Bring me to life (well, fun and cool to listen, but kinda simpla to play).
Like you I like playing rhythm parts so I can improve my chords knowlegde, and my skills to switch fast.

I'm also looking forward to being able to play around on the bass path, after Christmas.

I looked it up this afternoon. I have never listened to Oasis so this was the first for me. So are many of the songs on Rocksmith. I have enjoyed playing this song. You are right, there are a lot of changes and it is an enjoyable challenge. It suggested I try score attack on medium so I gave it a shot and as of the first try at it, I am 187 Position with 100k points. I still need lots of work but that's a pretty cool song I can follow at that point.

Another song with a bunch of changes is Knockin On Heaven's Door if you have not tried it yet.

Rem22 I sent you a friend request today. Look for it.

Hey Bill, that's a good excuse to buy a bass
I think that if I did not have so much to learn for the guitar part, I'd try also the bass.
But, first things first.

Eddie, I'll accept it when I have a chance to run the game. Thanks mate.
Family life takes 98% of my "home time".

I also like knocking on heaven's door, because I love the Guns N Roses versions, and it's based on the same chords indeed. So, good way to learn the chords

Picked up a copy of Rocksmith 2014 yesterday...

This will hopefully get me to use the PS3 I hardly use anymore in a constructive way.

I checked out Bandfuse but the guy at the store assured me this was the way to go.

Re: Rocksmith 2014!

Picked up a copy of RS2014 PC w/cable. Now I have to get a computer to run it as all I have at the moment are XP Pro systems. Was talking to a tech buddy of mine that has some HP LTs returning from lease, can't remember the model, but good ones. If I remember right, they have iCore 5, 6 GB ram, 1GB video and running Win7 (I want nothing to do with Vista and my buddy says there are still issues with Win8). Will have to check further with the RS2014 requirements. Will also have to pick up a splitter to use an amp to avoid that delay I see many having issues with.
