Re: Best online guitar teacher
If you're into Jazz check out Jimmy Bruno's site. I just signed up a few weeks ago and have already made A LOT of progress. Although I'm a beginner with Jazz, his site seems like it would be good for all levels. It's packed with tons of content, and Jimmy has so far been very responsive to assignments, emails, etc. It's $20 per month (paid quarterly), so compared to the Berklee class for $1200 this was a no-brainer.

Re: Best online guitar teacher
Marty Schwartz...he has various channels. Youcanlearnguitar and Guitarjamsdotcom. He is very funny and easy to understand. He'll explain every step and the theory behind what he's teaching. His guitarjamsdotcom channel covers popular songs and how to play them, and the youcanlearnguitar channel covers theory and licks. He's super helpful and directly helped me as a beginning guitarist. Also, he was the guitarist for Elliott Yamine (former American Idol finalist). Check him out!!

Re: Best online guitar teacher
Lots of good ones : Marty (Guitarjamz), StevieSnacks and Jamplay are my favorites.
![]() "Nextlevelguitar" rockongoodpeople is the only disappointment for me. I bought their stuff. "Poor" is the nicest thing I can say about them, I'm sure they are nice people but they need to go do something else...

Re: Best online guitar teacher
I sit down and play with Marty Schwartz these days. Frankly, I think he is an excellent teacher. Trust me, I'm a moron and I am able to learn with him.

Re: Best online guitar teacher
Vanderbilly is at the top of my list, then comes youtube. Lots of good theory lessons and cover lessons can be found on both.
I remember back when I started playing guitar, the only learning resource that I could find online was OLGA. A huge archive of tabs, most of which were wrong. |

Re: Best online guitar teacher
if your beginning or intermediate and want live Hd webcam 2 hour sessions with some famous guitar cats and thousands of hours of crystal clear Hd video's taking you from how to hold a guitar to advanced level playing Jamplay.com is great. I pay 20 a month just to watch Kenny "Blue" Ray play on live webcam. They are all so cool and down to earth and will help you with anything you need. I guess it depends on your money situation and what you want and time you have to put in, if I had any of these resources online when starting I would of moved ahead in my playing in light years. I come from the school of learning by ear and having friends show friends licks, not a bad thing either but I am astounded at the technology these days.
I think the thing with Marty for people that don't know him is he does beginner/intermediate lessons and he is a real chill guy and has a great attitude and does have some nice chops for blues/jazz. He is not really a schredder player but he is loved by all. Youtube is always a great resource if you don't start reading the comments, god that irritates me, youth is wasted on the young. That's my 2 cents. |
