Ibanez RG3120TW









This one was only made in lefty in 2000, it has a mahogany body with an AAA maple top, pickups are Dimarzio D-Sonic and Air Norton.

I'm really not into white or black guitars which rules out Ibanez's lineup of lefties, so I've been looking for this particular one for a few months.

The sound is different to what I'm used to playing, the bridge D-Sonic has major treble output, very strong in that area but not harsh. The Air Norton in the neck is surprising, it is very articulate, clear and melodic.

Beautiful shredder there! I don't know why Ibanez hates lefties, which is to say they typically don't have many models available left handed; and even then it's usually entry level crap. I love the S series, and also the Xiphos - just killer. If only there was a real custom shop we could use...

ESP has some cool stuff - we shall see I guess. Jackson also - I'm a huge Fender fan and was actually really pleased that they acquired Jackson rather than let then go belly up... Now if somebody reputable would take over B.C. Rich...

That's a really nice guitar. I'll bet it's solid as all hell too....for years the only electric I owned was a lefty RG-550.

That is one sweet guitar. I like how the hardware is simple, lets the color and shape of the guitar really do the roaring. Are you going to keep the same pickups in or swap out?

It certainly feels very solid, heavier than the righty 1550s' I picked up in my local store. I plan on leaving the pickups in it, from what I've heard they are a big improvement on the stock pickups. I'm guessing the previous owner was a Petrucci fan. The bridge pickup was turned around the other way when I got it and was almost touching the strings, the output was distorting everything I plugged it into so I lowered it back down. It's good to have different tones available, the G&Ls have Duncan JBs in the bridge and the EBMMs have their own custom wound DiMarzios, and each has their own "sound".

Hmm...I wonder if they're ever gonna do another run for ART hollowbodies?
