Help! Feedback Issues

Howdy all

I'm having some feedback problems with my white custom. I just bought it this last february. My rig is: gibson white les paul custom --> pedal board --> mesa f50 combo. i have narrowed the problem to the actual guitar. I re-tubed the whole amp to see if that was it. My other guitars (gibson SG, american tele) dont get the feedback and even if I remove the pedal board, it still happens. This is gross, microphonic feedback that happens no matter where i stand or move around. Now, it only happens when i'm using gain. If I'm on the clean channel, its not there. short of re-wiring or re-waxing the pickups, i'm not sure what to do. any tips or advice? thanks!

Sounds ominous... looks like it could be any of the above... repotting the pups or rewiring... but maybe try reducing the pup height first...

Re: Help! Feedback Issues

I had the same problem with a Les Paul Studio on which I had pickup covers installed. They squealed like crazy until I had them potted. End of problem.

Re: Help! Feedback Issues

is re-potting something I can do myself? What would I need to do it?

You probably could do it yourself, but it would most likely cost more for equipment and materials than a shop would charge. I had mine done for $50 the pair.
