LP Standard with Floyd Rose

I wuz looking at this Black LP Standard with FR installed. Any advice on that, some say the value of an LP diminishes with such a modification cause it's no longer considered a 'true' LP?

Sorry, but in my opinion toys like Floyd Roses don't belong on Les Pauls; leave them where they belong, on pointy guitars played by skateboard bands!
They suck tone and sustain out of a guitar so why would anyone want to do that to a guitar renowned for both?

These are a bad idea on a Les Paul. They really don't benefit the guitar from what I've seen and heard.

Gibson is selling (or will soon) a USA Les Paul with a Floyd called the Les Paul Axess. It was shown at NAMM this year.

That's a no no in my book.
Let's say you hate it after the mod and want to sell I guess you won't
get alot for it that's if anybody wants to buy it.

They are actualy pretty good
but i agree about putting a rose
on a les paul, its kind of like putting
4 wheel drive on a Mercedes

It's worked well for Neil Schon for years.

While it's not something I would do to one of my LPs, I'd get the Neil Schon sig model if I had the chance.

Yea as a second guitar i wouldnt mind one at all.
I love the one on my Charvel strat, i actualy have
alot of experince using them.

I have an '89 Studio Lite with a Floyd and I think it kicks A$$. An original Floyd Rose, set-up properly will have little or no degradation in tone or sustain.

I wouldn't butcher an LP to install a trem and I'd take an LP with no trem over ANY guitar with a trem. But I like having an LP w/ a factory installed Floyd as an option. I play metal/rock/blues and I've always liked using a trem.

Gibsons new Shred X Explorer is real kool and it comes with a 2215k KAHLER. I think its a drop-in with no cutting or mods just about 400.00 dollars. Just punch in Kahler on the web and look under 2200 series. Wow I cant post a photo right now on this site, It keeps coming up to an error page when I click on Image.

it depends if the floyd is factory original. if it is it's good because its kinda rare?

The late great Steve Clarke of Def Leppard had one or two LPs with the Floyd Rose + whammy bar - nothing wrong with his tone, but yes would affect the value.

Agreed. I couldn't do it or would I ever be tempted to buy one. I think it hurts their resale value as well.

Quite a few known guitarists using them here and there though.

I have a Kramer with a Floyd, and I love...sustaaaaains very well, but that's a whole other animal. You could do a Bigsby, I don't like them but many people do.
If you really want the Floyd check with BCRGreg (fellow forum member) he has an after market adapter that will mount a Floyd without routing.

It's interesting to see how many people don't like the idea of a Floyd on an LP, even when well respected guitarists like Neil Schon and Alex Lifeson use them.

It makes me like my "hated" LP even more. LOL.
