Need suggestions

If you had a budget of around 600 bucks and you wanted a small tube combo amp. What would you get? It's burning a hole in my pocket. I've a huge tube amp just need something rather small... I can buy a VOX AC15 with in that budget but it only has 1 channel.. I'd like to at least have two...

Re: Need suggestions

I would recommend a second-hand Marshall DSL 401 combo. Twin channel, compact, 1 x 12 inch speaker. A very versatile amp that is perfect for gigging.

Re: Need suggestions

Haven't been to EMshort's yet.... I"m stuck down here in Mexico for another week so I'm just doing some research... I've looked at Orange amps, haven't found to many on ebay with in that price range... I've been considering the small Marshall stacks on ebay but I"m holding out for a tube amp... I"m sure something will come along

Carvin Nomad or Fender Hot Rod Deluxe.

Re: Need suggestions

+1 on the HRDx. I've got one and really like it. I see 'em on Craigslist all the time in the $400 - $450 range if you want to go used.

Re: Need suggestions

Used Fender DRRI. Awesome amp and I got mine for $550 on ebay. It is only a one channel amp (no dirty channel) but you will never miss a second channel. Put your favorite pedal in front of it and you're set. Or, never mind the pedals and just crank it to get great overdriven tone.

Re: Need suggestions

Well, just pulled the trigger on a Marshall JTM30 off of Ebay... Does anyone have any experience with the JTM30's. Good or bad?

Re: Need suggestions

Looks like a cool amp. I read a couple of reviews saying it tended to run hot.

Not always a bad thing, but be sure and get it serviced when you get it.

Sweet...that'll be a great little amp!

Re: Need suggestions

Well, after a long month in Chiuahahaha Mexico for business, I got the chance to play thru my JTM30 I bought on ebay and all I can say it wow...Some of you might have seen my studio with the full drum kit, well this little thing will keep up with it....I"m flabbergasted that it can...I"m blown away by it... I've got a full stack Mesa Boogie triple rectifier and it can keep up some til I get past about 3.5 on the Mesa... and the cleans, better than any fender I've heard.... Thanks Jim Marshall
