Tune-O-Matic Screws

I notice that some of the pics posted in this forum has Tune-O-Matic Screws facing the Bridge pickup, but in Gibson catalogue all the screws heading the Tail piece.

What difference does it make when facing differently?

Re: Tune-O-Matic Screws

mine came right out of the box with the screws facing the tailpiece (factory settings I presume). I would think that it really wont make a whole lot of difference what direction it faces except maybe in terms of gaining access to the screws (which is really not a whole big deal) for adjustments and of course, you have to keep in mind that the adjusting the string's length has an impact on intonation and you would want the proper setting for each string to optimize it's dynamics.

Re: Tune-O-Matic Screws

I noticed that all stock Tune-O-Matic when come brand new from Gibson, they all facing the Tail Piece (mine and as well catalogue pics).

Re: Tune-O-Matic Screws

I just bought the system II tonepros set, which have the screws facing the neck - the saddles were reversed from the factory to be able to accomplish this.
The bridge locks down to the posts via allen head set screws so it doesn't move. It sounds sweet and looks perfect!

Re: Tune-O-Matic Screws

Those with the screws facing the neck are usually ABR-1s. Those facing the tailpiece are usually the wider, Nashville bridge. Not sure if it really matters either way.

Re: Tune-O-Matic Screws

Abr-1's face the pickups and Nashville's face the tailpiece.
