HighEnuff, Gorgeous top on that Paul!

<--------------- Thats my flame on my Slash Standard. Look how different they are. Each guitar i have seen has such an alternate cap!

Oiled my board couple of days after getting it, has such a dark conditioned look to it now. I am in love with this axe!

By the way for you Uk guys, I got on to Rosetti, which is the Uk distributor for Gibson. They have told me that they have now sent out all COA to the Slash Standard dealers.

Yeah i spoke to the dealer who sold me mine, they said they sorry for the delay but Gibson would have them sent to them, then onto me within the following week.

I think Gibson may have made a mistake and are doing a good job at covering it up

Sh*t Happens

Drayke your top is stunning aswell! Not seen a bad one yet!

I don't now, I'm forum illiterate! My photos are all 95KB converted so they can be uploaded

Make sure you wrap your stand if it's foam or plastic in case it warps your nitro finish

I think either the Guitar Dater Project or the information above is incorrect. I picked one up on the 1st, the "dater" site said it was number 113. It was made on Feb 14th. That one unfortunately had a nut issue so I returned it today and got another one. This one was made Mar 8th and the "dater" site says it's number 39. So I can't see #113 being made in Feb and #39 being made almost a month later!

I have a feeling that these guitars were just run along with the other standards and the "batch number" is just that, the number of the guitar for that batch of the day. IMO these are just another standard that was hyped up WAY TOO MUCH. Not taking anything away from the guitar, if I didn't like it I would not have bought one ( and taken time to go back and get one that HAD been thru quality control), but at the end of the day I have a bad taste in my mouth for Gibson after this. One for the quality control of these guitars, two for the BS hype around them, and three for not backing up the hype with something "extra" for the signature guitar.

Thats Blown that outta the water then!
I must admit I was cheesed off that these Standards dont have a "SL1 - SL1600". But on the other hand, this is my first gibson, its been set-up great and I will never sell it; so Im still a happy Bunny.

I tried all 3 at the store. The VOS is a tank. The neck is huge. It is amazing.

The epiphone even with the accessories is a bit over priced. Its still a killer guitar, but at $1000 it is over priced.

The standard however is perfect. the headstock is really cool. the finish and binding are perfect. The pickups scream.

I've also included pics of the "cert".

Its not signed and numbered...it would be alot cooler if it was.

DUDE, you played the epiphone? your opinion please

Re: USA's Slash Signature Les Paul Standard pics

over on the other les paul forum...

folks are really trashing this line.

whats the deal....with the exception of the lack of COA and the generic numbering...i'd say the standard is f*ckin sweet as hell and totally worth the money.

In fact folks seem to favor the epi for some reason. I played all 3 three in the store and hands down the standard was my favorite. The epi was not worth $1000. I feel 2400 is fair, if only slightly high for the standard.

So, if the Epi would have been 699 with all the goodies. I would have gotten one of them too...

But as a solid LP the standard ranks high.

Thoughts?

Yeah that first set of pictures while fabulous did look a little green, please don't take this as any dis-respect man it may just be the lighting I wish I could get one, Slash is the reason I wanted to play guitar as an 11 year old watching the sweet child o mine video...

With all the talk about the Slash line of LPs, one concern I have is are they chambered? The VOS most probably will not be. But when I tried out the VOS and the Standard, the standard felt lighter.

Well thats what alot of ppl have been saying...GREEN

Isn't that good for the environment. HAHA!

Actually. I do think its just the photos. I think the color of the tops are awesome. I personally don't see green. I think that on other forums folks are just referencing the photos they've seen and have not seen or played these things in person.

Thanks for the feedback.

Re: USA's Slash Signature Les Paul Standard pics

Well I am thinking about getting one of the Slash guitars. I called Centre Music yesterday and they wanted to sell me one of the USA Slash guitars for a higher price than GC! I won't be doing business with that store.
Anyone here have a good Gibson dealer they do business with in the USA you can suggest to me that I will get a good price on a Slash guitar? I havent' decided yet on the custom or USA model.

Re: USA's Slash Signature Les Paul Standard pics

THANK YOU to everyone for the clarification on the COA!! I've been getting the runaround for the past week trying to confirm whether or not the Slash USA Gibson (which I bought on 4/6). After seeing a bunch of pictures of them (the COAs), in Ebay auctions, I called Guitar Center to ask about them, but they assured me that the Gibson Slash's didn't come with a COA (which, technically, is accurate since they weren't shipped with the guitars), but they never said anything about Gibson shipping them to them last week.

So - I contacted a couple of the Ebay sellers and asked them and they told me exactly what I'd read in other places - They weren't available when they bought the guitars, but Gibson had sent them out and they arrived at dealers last week.

Next, I sent an email to Gibson support to ask for confirmation. They responded pretty quickly and confirmed that the "COAs had been shipped to dealers this (last) week". I asked if they could confirm that they were included specifically for the USA Gibson Slash models (not just the Epi and VOS), and they must not have read my question thoroughly, because they replied again with only "the COAs have been shipped to dealers". So then I called, Gibson and asked for specific confirmation on the USA Gibson models, and they did confirm that yes, in fact, the USA Gibson Slash LP Standards do include COAs (though not numbered), and that they had shipped to dealers last week.

Soooo - I haven't called GC back yet (I will today), but I'm kinda peeved that they haven't contacted me yet about the COA. Maybe they haven't recieved them yet or maybe the salesman I dealt with is just embarassed about how emphatic he was that the USA Gibson Slash LPs "did not" include COAs - either way, I would have appreciated a call.

I'm just whining now, I guess - As long as they don't give me the runaround when I call back and they do actually come through with the COA for me, it will be all good.

I'll post an update later on how I make out...

UPDATE:

So I called Guitar Center tonight and spoke with the salesman who sold me the guitar last week. I explained that I'd seen photos of the COAs from other owners on the web in forums and on Ebay. I also explained that I had called Gibson customer support and that they had confirmed for me that the USA Gibson Slash LP Standards do include a COA and that they were supposed to have been sent to dealers last week.

So what happens?...

This salesman says something to the effect of "uuuhh... hmm. Nah, Gibson never told us anything about that - they never sent any COAs for the USA Slash LPs and as far as I know, they just don't come with one." So I'm thinking to myself "Did this guy just call me a liar??" I wait for a couple seconds, hoping that maybe he'd at least offer to check with Gibson for me... or NOT. So then I ask him: "Do you think could maybe call Gibson to ask them about this?" I explained again that the Gibson customer support rep had told me that they have sent COAs for the USA Slash LP to the dealers and that I've also seen dozens of PICTURES of them on the web - I tend to doubt that it's an elaborate hoax by Gibson customer service and oh, dozens of owners of the same guitar just frustrate ME (!!)

So he reluctantly agreed to call Gibson and get back to me (tomorrow, since their main office was closed by the time I called today, which is fine). So still no definitive word yet, but we'll see what happens tomorrow.

Geez, I know it's just a piece of paper and it's not even a "numbered" COA, but I don't care!! I freely admit that the primary reason I bought it is because Slash is my favorite guitarist and I loved the looks and specs (and after playing it, the sound), of this guitar. I bought it to PLAY and enjoy, not to turn around and sell to make a quick buck - But I'd STILL like the COA that's supposed to come with it!!! I don't care if it is just a worthless piece of paper - it's worth something to ME!!! Is that being unreasonable?!?

Arghh... frustrated...

Re: USA's Slash Signature Les Paul Standard pics

Well finally after 2 weeks post April 1st the USA slash's reach Ireland, have no idea the reason for the delay but anyways...

I guess the good thing about waiting is that the COA is included by default... so here's a sneak preview of the one I chose... I'm pretty happy with the top

It should be in my paws by this friday

I also heard the 2nd USA in the slash series will be the goldtop and the 3rd will be some kind of "aged" burst... interesting indeedy
