Re: Which way do you put strings on your guitar?

i thread them though the tuning peg and wrap em around a few times, then i pull them down around the bridge really tight and tie them in a neat bow

Re: Which way do you put strings on your guitar?

the normal way, except that i use piano strings and cat whiskers to increase sustain, i use a titanium tailpiece and a rare earth magnet bridge with beryllium saddles to maximize position of the strings in relation to the polar dynamic of the pick stroke, while eliminating "gate freeze" within the saddle itself. i also use lubricants from nasa to help the strings seat proberly in the nut, which was carved from a piece of bone taken from my little finger on my right hand. i found the finger redundant and basically a vestigal appendage, hence its removal.

hope this helps!

Re: Which way do you put strings on your guitar?

I do it the same way as Jimmy Page, except I invert it when I get to the 3rd string, top-wrap the 4th and tune the 5th to B# (Jimmy Page invented this note).

Then I usually raise the action a spot and tweak the truss-rod.

After that I take de-string and apply raw linseed oil to the fretboard, before restringing in the opposite manner to that stated above.

Note : My low-E consists of half-a-dozen unwound banjo strings which I wind together myself.

Re: Which way do you put strings on your guitar?

lol i mean i saw some different ways like How To Change Guitar Strings- Stringing to stay in tune - Locking Strings to the tuner

or do you just make hips of wraps around the tuner post or do you have a different way?

Re: Which way do you put strings on your guitar?

I pull it through the tailpiece, take it up to the tuning peg, I measure 3 fingers past the peg, put a bend in it, thread it through the peg, then put another bend in it going the other way, I then pull on the string a little to take out some of the stretch in the string, I then turn the peg using a winder (its just a lot quicker), taking care to ensure the string winds down towards the headstock. Lastly I snip the excess off. All of this takes about 1min per string.

I am interested in mobprops process, but dont wish to lose my finger!

Where can I get said Nasa lube?

That is the exact same method I use but I also run the first wind over the top of the string where it comes through the post and the rest under the string to "lock it in". Once I pull the slack out of them during the initial tuning, they stay in "near perfect" tune except for a small amount of variation due to temp change.

Re: Which way do you put strings on your guitar?

for an honest answer, i top wrap, then after threading the string though the tuning peg i lock the string on itself and wind.

I do it exactly like it describes in that link - and I try to keep it to 2 or 3 wraps per string.

That's also how Gibson recommends - per the little book that came in my case.

Re: Which way do you put strings on your guitar?

i only wrap the wound strings twice, sometimes 1 and a half.... unwound strings 2 to 3 times.... when the strings are locked and you have less wraps, your going to stay in tune better... think about it.

Re: Which way do you put strings on your guitar?

I put the strings on the front of the guitar. They go through them little holes that go through the big wood end. If you put them through so that they're on the back side of the guitar it's really hard to play and the tone is off.

+1 This is how I do it; I learned how to do it from the manual that came with my Les Paul! Gee, I never read the instructions before! Go figure! Before I started doing it that way, I used to complain about my strings always getting out of tune. It stays in tune pretty well this way. This method is similar to the method in the link provided by the OP.

Yeah, and as we all know, they come with the best strings and you can keep 'em on like forever.

Re: Which way do you put strings on your guitar?

From the tuning pegs, all the way down and around the tone knobs, then through small holes down to the control cavity and finally out of the output jack and into the tailpiece.
