Please Help: Real Or Fake
Okay LP experts. Attached are some pictures and I need your opinions if this guitar is a fake or the real thing. I know the pick-ups have been replaced. Thanks for your help.

Re: Please Help: Real Or Fake
There are real experts on this subject on here, and I am sure they will take a look also, but, it looks legit to me. Unscrew the pickups and take a look to see if the pup cavity's are painted black or not. Gibson does not paint these cavity's with shielding paint. Sometimes counterfeiters will paint them.

Re: Please Help: Real Or Fake
You know what guys? how about we don't list what's wrong with it, so the chinese bullshitters can't learn how to make them properly from our knowledge.
Say real or fake, in your opinion, but lets not help these a$$holes anymore. BTW the only Les Paul Custom that has a top like that is the 68RI. |

Re: Please Help: Real Or Fake
Two pics from his ad. If you don't want to post it here, please email me at retired_1975atyahoodotcom. I will buy it if you folks tell me it's real. I have asked him for hi-res pics of the whole guitar and finger/fret board. Thanks again.

Re: Please Help: Real Or Fake
Is it your guitar already? Are you the one trying to sell if off as an original? I assumed you were the one trying to buy it so all I was asking is that people don't post all the info that would teach those scam artists how to build them better.

Re: Please Help: Real Or Fake
Lighten up Axeman. If you know it is fake, PM him the reason .This way the Chinese bootleggers who MAY be reading these sites to get pointers won't pick up on the differences you would point out.
Just PM the original poster with the list. He IS asking for help and you are NOT giving it, just being abrasive. I just went to one of the Chinese sites to see what I could find. Did not see one like it, but I'm suspicious since we cannot see the entire guitar in high res of a complete headstock. I'll PM the poster too with a link to a couple of the Chinese sites. Also, lookup "fake Gibson" on ebay, there is a list of things to look for. The knowledge is out there and should be shared here too.

Re: Please Help: Real Or Fake
Got it. 16 is likely his age.
I remember knowing everything at 16. No one could tell me anything. I was always right. Ah those were the days.![]() I got taken down a peg or two before reality set in. It's cool. This internet selling has some scary consequences when it comes to these counterfeit guitars. Well, you are over 100 posts now, so your PM functions should be working. Didjya get mine? Go through those sites and get a reality does of what is out there.

When did I say ANYONE called me a Chines Asshole? You should go back and read. Are you indeed 16? That would be the answer then. The original poster got confused, NOT me? Read , learn to reread, and then be quiet unless you have a real thing to say. Loki wanted the details of WHY it was a fake to not made public. so as any bootleggers who are reading this do not get any tips. That is simple. The original poster took it wrong, but then understood it. Why can't you? Learn to read. And PM or email the reasoning behind WHY you think something is a fake to the original poster. You have that knowledge, so pass it on. Clearly you have info that would be a deciding factor, so share it with the OP. What are you a soldier, not going the extra step because you were not told to? Gimme a break....

Re: Please Help: Real Or Fake
I see you re read while I was writing. Cool. I'm over it.
You are doing what the poster asked, just stating an opinion. Cool enough. But really, the PM thing is our friend. There are so many boots out there that we really have to watch each other's backs.

Re: Please Help: Real Or Fake
I always look for the fret nibs - first sign of a fake, though I do know some of the really old Les Pauls don't have them... but this guitar isn't old. Headstock inlay looks..."off"
