Rosewood Fretboard Grains

Hi,

My brand new guitar has white stuffing in the rosewood fretboard grains. Do you guys have any ideas what those are? Are those white stuffing just dirts reside in the grains? They filled up most of the grains on the fretboard.

I heard ppl using steel wool to clean those things out. would it damage the wood? I have tried to scrape them out, but that is a ridiculous amount of work

Re: Rosewood Fretboard Grains

Hey!! It's called inlays, dude!

All jokes aside.

Sometimes people also polish their fretboards for some reason. And it leaves a white residue of wax that the cloth couldn't reach.

Or it could be dead skin cells or something. It could be anything actually.

Try cleaning it with steel wool as you described. Then condition the fretboard with lemon oil. She deserves it

That's what I love about ebony boards. They are smooth as a Ferrari bonnet.

Maybe the white stuffing is a Thanksgiving special.

.... holy shit, be very careful, and whatever you do, DON"T touch it. It sounds like you got one with a very rare and poisonous fungus. Send it to me right away. Is it a Historic?
