2007 Guitars of the Week (Quality?, Value?)
Hello Les Paul Freaks! I was just wondering if anybody has bought any of the Les Paul Guitars of the Week from 2007? I just got an Antique white Les Paul Classic Custom week 39. It has appointments from a standard and a custom mixed together, but the quality, looks, fit, finish and sound is stellar! I'm totally stoked on this one of a kind guitar! Only 400 made. Did I get lucky? What's your experience of any of the Les Pauls made under this program? Thanks everybody!!!

Re: 2007 Guitars of the Week (Quality?, Value?)
I don't have one of the GOW Les Pauls but I'm tempted to track down a week 27 Classic Antique. I do have two other GOWs though. I bought the week 37, '67 SG Special with P90s and the week 43 Explorer with the Maestro Vibrola. The quality on both of these is top notch. As far as value, they were both $1149 for a U.S. made Gibson with a hard case AND limited to only 400 made. You can't get much more bang for the buck than that.

Good score! I'm looking to get Week 44, the LP "Unburst" Looks amber to me. I just think that Gibson really did a great job in making some really unique pieces. Guitar of the Month in 2008 may be just as exciting! Check out the Diablo SG, now that looks awesome!

I don't, but that SG Diablo sure makes the trigger finger itchy. Trying to keep my eyes on the prize, though.

Re: 2007 Guitars of the Week (Quality?, Value?)
as far as value IMO atleast by me they were a steel going for aournd $1750's as opposed to a Std which is over $2100
they have some unitque features but as far as being a collectible only time will tell. 400 production #'s wouldnt be too rare of a axe IMHO I have number 0987 of 1000 in my ovation 98 collectors acoustic paid $1200 and it aint worth nothing near that these days |

Re: 2007 Guitars of the Week (Quality?, Value?)
Well it's rather bright due to the Burstbucker Pros that are installed. I finally getting my Marshall DSL 401 dial in to get the sweet tone I was getting with my Epiphone Ultra with EMG's. I'm starting to get the feel and weight of this beast. All in all I happy with this guitar. I'm not changing a thing on this guitar due to the fact there were only 400 made. This beast is rockin now.

Re: 2007 Guitars of the Week (Quality?, Value?)
My PERSONAL OPINION is that ALMOST all of the GOTW's were a total flop and that nearly all of them will lose value (to a point). Now before you go all gehy-for-Gibson on my ass. Look at the facts:
1. I own four GOTW Les Pauls..all of which I bought NEW for around 1/2 to 3/4 of new "going rate" 2. Many dealers still have a butt load of GOTW's that they can't give away. 3. Anything that WAS popular, Gibson will just make more and kill the value (i.e. Reverse Flying V). 4. Many were just aweful Bastardized version of classic flops (i.e. RG with no 'hi tech electronics...WTF?") 5. Many had the same old flubs and defects. No surpise there. If you have a red GT...flip it over and see the pain. The body is at least 4 pieces glued together, not to mention the top. AKA Jigsawguitar Puzzle 6. Nothing special about most. Same old new sucky hollow bodies with some slightly "special" finishes. For all of you that don't know, Gibson always cranked out hundreds of "one-off" non-standard finishes every year. I have/had many non-spec finish Les Pauls throughout the years. Most can be a great buy, but only when they are on super closeout or on Ebay. By no means, collectible, IN MY OPINION. Just another marketing move from a marketing company. By the way, Ford also made a Limited Edition Pinto Sport in 1970......wonder what thats worth? |

I too have a love-hate relationship with Gibson as well. However, I'm optimistic that in 10 years my Week 39 Les Paul Classic Custom (antique white) will hold its value but not be up in price either. Thanks for your insight!

Re: 2007 Guitars of the Week (Quality?, Value?)
I have the gotw 22 Les Paul Supreme Goldtop. Its a beautiful guitar and way heavier than my 2007 standar/60z neck. It's a real showstopper with the multi layer binding. I love it

Throw in the 2008 GOTM ones 12 x 1000 is another 12000 more. Carry the one add the nine divide by the reciprocal of 27 and bamm-o and you get 31,200 collector's guitars in 2 years. That's ambitious! Well, yep, good luck, there! I would suggest buying an USA made BCR Mock Supreme. I think they make 85 or so per year. |

Grand total of 31,200 guitars but not all 31,200 are the same, that is the best part. Otherwise I'd like to see the other 31,199 other guitars that look like homerunjack's. I know at least 1 of them doesn't look like or play like his. |

Re: 2007 Guitars of the Week (Quality?, Value?)
Recently visited my local dealer and was pleasantly suprised by a Classic Antique GOTW Mahogany top.
Played it, purchased it. Also pleased to find a 1 piece body after further inspection. Great guitar. |

Re: 2007 Guitars of the Week (Quality?, Value?)
A few guys on other forums I post at got the 84 Explorer reissues from week 46 or so. Most had cracks at the neck joint, poorly cut nuts, finish flaws (orange peel for the most part). Some were so bad that the fretboard was misplaced on the neck (slightly toward the high E.)
I'm a Gibson fan, so I'm not prone to Gibson bashing, but that run seemed to miss. It's a shame, because for the hard rock community, I thought those guitars would do well. One example thread |

Re: 2007 Guitars of the Week (Quality?, Value?)
I got GTOW#20 - LP studio in black satin finish with emg's.
I like: nice bound ebony fretboard, taller frets than on my standard, EMG... Price was OK for me don't like : Top heavy ( grovers may be a factor), Chambered, dings easily...while the price was OK for me, at the time i had no idea Gibson was chambering all USA models. not too bad i suppose but since i already have a non-cambered LP standard, and the fact that i just aquired a PRS singlecut 250.... this GOTW#20 is basically collecting dust right now. I was going to sell it, but i thought why not keep at least one guitar with emg's around just in case. |

By who?? MF or ZZsounds?? I read that too but it also says two Volumes and One tone too. I send a email to Gibson and they told me all Zebrawood were fitted to Burstbucker Pro's

Collectable? Likely to increase in value? I have no idea, but for $1100 each they're fantastic axes...

Re: 2007 Guitars of the Week (Quality?, Value?)
I also bought a GOTW, 32 I think? Black SG Special with EMG pups.
I didn't buy it because it's a "limited run" of 400, I didn't buy it as an inverstment, I didn't buy it as a collector's item, I bought it because it sounds/feels/plays incredible! I agree that they will never be worth what some people think they will be worth. So what if there's "only" 400 made? The truth is, the used market is flooded with thousands upon thousands of Gibson Les Pauls, SGs, etc. Same goes for Robot LPs, in my opinion. Anybody who bought one as a long term investment will lose money because there will be so many out there. GOTW/GOTM is a cool program that Gibson did. I like having a bit of variety. It's like buying a muscle car back in the old'n days...several engine choices and interior options. It was nice because every car was a bit different. The same applies with these GOTW. Yeah, ultimately, it's just a LP or SG or Explorer, but it's a bit different than the norm. IMO they shouldn't be treaded as investments, they should be treated as guitars...who cares if they become collectors items in 50 years...just play them! Edit: Quality is top notch.

I've owned 13 Les Pauls over the years. I have 4 now. Every one I sold was for more than it cost originally, some significantly so. I'm not talking original burst money, but you wont lose your ass on one either. I have two of the GOTW. Neither was bought as an investment, but there is a little peace of mind knowing if I ever need to unload them I will at least get out of them what I have in (as I said getting a good deal up front helps. I bought locally for hundreds less than musician's friend was selling for) my LP Classic Custom Creme (to the original poster, if Gibson doesn't release this as a production model I think it will do well in terms of value. The black Classic Custom was released as a production model and at MF it's going for $2800 with a MSRP of $4399, so I would assume the same model in a limited run of 400 in an equally desirable color will benefit nicely) ![]() And my SG Classic Custom

![]() http://www.electric-guitar-review.co...-autumn-burst/ week 9? i saw this in the shop near me and it was a gorgeous eye catching burst color. the only thing i would change is making the binding creme color, and i would just need fret inlays it looked bare w/o it even with the curly ebony fret board. i would have bought it but it was too high a price and i think the supreme logo is gaudy looking. i really wish they made more of that and the cinna-burst color. |

Re: 2007 Guitars of the Week (Quality?, Value?)
I got the week #34 Standard w/ 50's neck.
Quality - Top Of The Line -it's sweeet! Plays like a dream, I love it!. But, didnt really figure it would ever be worth more than what I paid for it. which was $500 less that what it was suppose to sell for! so, I'm happy no matter what! |
