Re: a thread for all the SLASH haters
no..meaning that both of their claims to fame is due to their involvement with Slash..not to mention their replicas which shook up the Les Paul market and value..which we hadnt publicly seen till this GnR video...people werent exactly clamoring for Les Pauls when they saw ZZ top videos (which didnt even feature one) even though Pearly gates is considered a prized LP up there with Pages

If he wore a bucket, I would probably take him more seriously.

Re: a thread for all the SLASH haters
Alot of people talk trash about slash and disrespect him, but all u les paul fanatics must realize this man saved the les paul. In 1987 everybody in rock music played ibanez, jackson, hamer. Nobody played les pauls. I'm not saying worship this guy, but he does deserve alot of respect, and hes a great blues/rock guitar player.

Re: a thread for all the SLASH haters
I thought that too about Slash saving les pauls, then I remembered Randy, Zakk, Sykes, Adrian Smith played a les paul in the Early Days of Maiden with Dianno too.

Re: a thread for all the SLASH haters
Who saved the Les Paul? Old farts like me who kept buying them for ourselves and as gifts - despite having no idea who most of those guys are, much less what they play.

Re: a thread for all the SLASH haters
I was all about the Les Pauls because of Kossof, Page and Ace Frehley, I had my first LP 12 years before Appetite was released and was playing GNR covers in bars within the first week it was out.
Slash wasn't an influence so it wouldn't have changed my choice of guitars, I kept on playing the LP all through the late 70's, 80's and up to this day. Max and Roman made some great guitars and in the inner circle they were already well known. Those LP replicas would have become collectible even without Slash.

The only respect I'd give him is that due any successful musician. He's lived the dream so he gets it for that. But, Slash fans might not want to read the rest of this. I never liked G&R...those fucks did not know when to stop playing. It seems like every song comes to its natural end then slowly starts to pick up steam again. SO DAMN ANNOYING. Yeah they had some OK riffs but ehhhh, I've gotta turn that crap off every time it comes on the radio. Slash/G&R fans, go ahead and blast me if ya want. My response to this thread: Slash had no, and never will have any, bearing on me playing a Les Paul. I owned and played one long before his bore ass of a band came along. Slash saved the Les Paul. WTF!! |

Re: a thread for all the SLASH haters
All of those people were already past their prime by 85. By 87, Slash was the only huge player playing les pauls.
