Re: Buckethead signature Les Paul - Announced!

Interesting. Sounds like Gibson are actually doing something a little different with this one, rather than just churning out another cookie-cutter signature model.

Looking forward to seeing it.

Re: Buckethead signature Les Paul - Announced!

I'm thinking it'll have to come with a custom case. That'll drive the price up.

Buckethead is a breath of fresh air imo, a nice change from all the commercialized shite being released these days - metallica included.

I feel kind of the same with Buckethead. I'm not a big fan and don't see anything he does as a breath of fresh air. He's a talented guy but just not my thing.

Calling other music commercialized shit because you aren't into it is pretty lame when others could say the same about what you are into.

But Metallica is commercialized shit. Name one decent song they've produced since the Black album?

Buckethead is hardly commercial, not being signed to any major label.

You want a Hetfield sig? Go and start a thread.

That's all we know at this stage.

and thats probably the reason why most people cant name one song by Buckethead. it's something of a double-edged sword.

i am interested playing this new sig though, if for no other reason thats it pretty radical as far as LPs go. hopefully Gibson wont over-price it too much. me thinks BH fans probably dont have as deep of pockets as the old geezers who want Beck, Clapton,Page, BG sigs....

Like the Bloomfield model for $14,000 lol. My new motorcycle was less than that.

For a BH guitar I have deep pockets but not that deep.

Re: Buckethead signature Les Paul - Announced!

hopefully they will keep it within 2-3k. 3k would be a lot of cash for a USA line guitar, but ymmv.

Re: Buckethead signature Les Paul - Announced!

Wow, that Soothsayer intro...beautiful.

Check this quote:

"I tried out that Buckethead guy. I met with him and asked him to work with me, but only if he got rid of the fucking bucket. So I came back a bit later, and he's wearing this green fucking Martian's-hat thing! I said, 'Look, just be yourself.' He told me his name was Brian, so I said that's what I'd call him. He says, 'No one calls me Brian except my mother.' So I said, 'Pretend I'm your mum then!' I haven't even got out of the room and I'm already playing fucking mind games with the guy. What happens if one day he's gone and there's a note saying, 'I've been beamed up'? Don't get me wrong, he's a great player. He plays like a motherfucker." - Ozzy Osbourne

Amazing musician, but he has a weird persona.

I tend agree with this assessment. I'm 6'1 and my LP definitely looks larger on me than on him, both in neck length and body size. Also...people might want to consider an all white guitar on dark clothing will make the guitar appear larger than it really is. I would actually be interested in such a strange guitar, not because it's a Buckethead signature.

I'd love to have two of 'em. One to shit on and one to cover it up.

I think the guitar is cool because it def is original. The player I don't get in the least.

The body is 10% larger than a regular Les Paul. That info is straight from Gibson Customer Service.
