Re: Buckethead signature Les Paul - Announced!

The BH guitar will definitely be one of the more interesting sigs out there. It's a lot further away from the typical LP. Not sure what kind of market there is, but like him or not, I think BH deserves respect. I'm not into the whole chicken coop thing, but musically, the guy is gifted.

Oh, I hear they're coming out with a Foghorn Leghorn sig next year.

Yup, people spend more time bashing him every chance they get than listening to his songs that aren't just shredding. In fact, he really only shreds on random live videos, his songs are completely different.

But I really couldn't care less whether other people like him or not.

Yup, there is no shredding on Electric Tears or Colma. He has some really good stuff. I think it's cool that they're making a Buckethead sig. Can't say I'll be too interested in buying it but it's cool they're making this and the Iommi and Dethklok sigs instead of just more of the same. Although they are releasing new Wylde sigs and a Slash sig, but at least there's something new.

That was nothing more than a technique lesson. Don't base your entire opinion of him on what was not supposed to be musical.

Here's an example of his compositions;

^I like that new song. And Soothsayer's one of my favorite songs. That's the song that made me really start listening to Buckethead. I just love the clean intro and then when he switches to gain. and the last couple minutes are just insane.

Re: Buckethead signature Les Paul - Announced!

So after listening to these four songs, I can say the guy sure has skills. I really liked the Beacon song and the intro to Soothsayer. But apart from that, the music didn't "grab" me or my attention, if you know what I mean. To me, it sounds to me like it's al lot of technique and little emotion. I feel the same way about a lot of modern guitarists.

I will unsubscribe from this thread now. Seeing how strong the responses are from the haters / lovers of Buckethead, I don't think I have anything left to either read or post on the subject.

Enjoy his signature guitar when it hits the stores. I hope for you that it won't be way off and way overpriced.

goodbye,

Vin

Re: Buckethead signature Les Paul - Announced!

Gibson alone cannot dictate the specs of the guitar. Buckethead has control over the specs as well.

The guitar will be what Buckethead and Gibson decide to make.

I think Gibson should come out with a Harlan Sanders sig model.

If Gibson wants to make the BIG money with a BH signature they'll do this through Epiphone...

%100, Sentry! Punks....er....respectable kids such as Ill-sackie will buy them by the thousands if Epiphone sells them for about $600.

In this day of manufactrured pop stars and 3 minute " songs ", delving into BH is a different type of musical experience.

BH writes music, not " songs ". JMHO, but it does take a higher level of attention and listening to reap the rewards. His cataloge is tremendous and diverese. Emotion, not bluesey 12 bar soul type, but its there, different, but there. The shred turns a lot of folks away from finding the music that would they would like.

Enjoy....

So sad that someone can be so close minded. Especially considering that can be said of, like, any player.

Anyway, form over function for me, and I love how that guitar looks.

Believe it or not, but I think that white hardware-white pickup look is pretty cool. But the Bucket vibe is just too strong to make me like it.

Since when does good music "grab" you immediately? This isn't instant gratification pop. The best stuff most often takes time to grow on you.

Thanks for calling Gibson Customer Service. Gibson USA says that the Buckethead is due out in November. The MSRP has not been set yet. The body is 10% larger than a regular Les Paul. It is based on a LP Custom with multi ply binding on the top and binding on the back as well. They are white with ebony fret boards and the scale is 27 ½ inches long. It has open coiled pickups with white pickup bobbins and speed knobs. The guitar also employs the use of 2 “Atari” type buttons that act as a kill switch type of thing. One is located where the rhythm pickup volume knob is usually located and the other is located where the toggle usually sits. Thanks.
An email from Gibson earlier today.

Sounds like it might be cool but just not something I would ever want. I'd prefer to see Gibson do a James Hetfield signature if they are looking at getting different rock artist signatures.

When I was a kid I liked Metallica. Can't stand them now. Maybe once a year I'll put master of puppets on for a spin, that's about it.

Buckethead is a breath of fresh air imo, a nice change from all the commercialized shite being released these days - metallica included.
